| I am going to enter a loca (non-casino) 7 Stud tournament in a week. Just entering with some friends as entertainment. But 7 Stud is not my game. I only know Hold Em and a little Omaha. I'm doing this just for fun but I still want to do the best I can. Any tips/advice for someone not as familiar with 7 Stud? There should be appoximately 30 players at a $50 buy-in. No rebuy. I have no idea of the begining stack, ante, or bet sizes. Possibilitiy that they won't allow check-raising. And I have no clue as to how good (or bad) these players are going to be. Thanks!! TK | ||

Seiously, the key to 7 card ( my main game) is your starting 3 cards. bigger pairs --8 and above split or pocket--pocket being better, 3 str8s, 3flushes, occasional gapper. throw everything else away. PLay tight, tight, tight regardless of how loose your friends get. Don't worry about the prohibition on check- raising thats mainly for hold-em. If possible, don't drink--make up an excuse drink water. good luck Gary | ||

| TKarrde it is likely too late for this tourney but for the future I would suggest reading Roy West's 7stud literature. It is perfect for a beginner. Good luck!!! GRANT PITTMAN | ||
