Have you noticed that at Empire/Party lately the games are super tight. Not nearly the good games they were only a month ago. Or have I just hit a run of bad tables.

The 5/10 games seem to have dried up a lot. But, the 3/6 games are still solid. Where I am finidng the biggest fish now is in the 1/2 $100 buy-in NL games. Usually 4 or 5 limpers in every pot and you see people go all-in with second pair, overcard kicker all the time. If you can be patient and hit a few hands, you can make a ton of money there.

I am gonna try that.

I find that there are less fish to and i am getting punished for playing too loose sometimes and i am outkicked.
Whenever i lose a hand like that i ask myself what the hell i am doing.

i'll give the NL tables a try thank you for the hint.

keep on learning.

Tommy I am with you. I have been on a real dry run of cards lately and there haven't been many fishies to help me eke out a small profit. I am literally just checking and folding when I miss the flop.

On a bad night, there are a bunch of check-raise loving players flopping the nuts and checkraising my two pair on the river.

I am only making money lately in SNGs. I am just starting to venture into the $100 NL games. I had a bad experience with $25 NL at Party on a severe dry run of cards (39os every damn hand it seemed). Can't lose a lot of money with those hands but gets frustrating.

Anyway, I have noticed the same thing.

Party. I don't play on UB (yet).

Despite the good games, I am on a 7 session losing streak myself...partly not getting good cards, but also partly pushing more marginal one's which i know better not to do.

Maybe this is one of those "fish win" months that will keep them in the game for us later!

For some reason I've been playing Poker Stars a bit. The PL rooms there have been amazing. Yesterday I sat down in the .10/.25 PLHE room and busted out 6 players in lessthan an hour. After a $25 buy in I left with over $160 the play at the table was aweful. People were calling pot sized bets down to the river chasing gut shots and with other garbage.

Its amazing. The game is really soft.

Now leave it all to me!!!!!

sounds like you and I have had very similar experiences lately. I am starting to feel like I am never going to win in ring games ever again. I tend to tilt slightly in these bad decisions and will chase a hand or two or pay off a river bet that I know I am beat on after getting called down.

In all these sessions (some of which I have actually eked out a tiny profit and some I have taken a beating) I have made good starting hand decisions, hit something like top pair with either a good kicker or top kicker, bet (I always seem to be in the blinds when I play these hands) out and get 3 callers. Then watch the board deteriorate on the turn and river.

And don't these guys just love to check raise!! The board pairs another 3 and of course that made the guy playing A3o trips and now he checkraises you on the turn! So your KJ3 board now looks like KJ33 and you have 2 pair and know you are a loser when you see the reraise.

Seems like this is every hand I am playing. Or, I get AQ passed to me in mid position, I raise, get 4 callers behind me. The flop comes KJJ and the BB bets out.

In general, I cannot connect with a flop lately and when I do, it usually comes with a 2 flush or some other connected scary board with the scare card hitting on the turn.

Anyway, I have pretty much decided to play SNG's exclusively from now on unless I just want to mess around for a half an hour without needing to commit to a game for certain period of time. These continue to be extremely profitable for me. Especially the $33 games at Party and the $20 games at UB.

Dude, sounds like you need some time off. Get away from poker for at least a week, maybe more. You'll come back with a better attitude and luck will come back.

Just get away from the game for a bit. Do something else for a week.

See you then.

I definitely need a break from ring games for sure.

My tournament attitude is very positive right now so a total break is definitely not in order. In fact, my tournament play is the best it has ever been and I truly expect to win each time out.

But yeah, the ring games are killing me.

Do you think your winning tourney strategy could have you moving away from a winning ring strategy? The play is vastly different and the manner in which one reads opponents can tend to skew...just a thought...

I've been in the same boat mroban. I hardly played at all the past 2 weeks just because every time I did, I ran cold and either lost or squeezed out a small win. I usually play about 35 hours a week, but it was down to 15 or 20 a week for the past 2 weeks. I was probably about break even for the time, and while that's not bad, it's still not the best I've had. I had a lot of river suckouts and usually they don't bother me, but after you get them over and over, it tends to wear on you.

Anyway, I sat down in a bunch of sit n go's today and let me tell you, I had the best poker day I've ever had. The 30+3 NL sng's on party are really soft lately. I finally caught the upswing of good cards, and after I played for about 6 hours, I decided to pack it up and have a little bit of a celebration. Keep at it and eventually things will turn your way!!

Hey Stevolley, you need to try some Omaha! The games are *always* great.......all the time.
