| A funny story from last nights play. I get AKs from the big blind. UTG player (somewhat tight & aggresive & will bluff) raises. I believe there was 1 middle position caller but there might have been 2. I decide not to raise as I won't get anyone out and by just calling I could set up a check raise with the right flop. Flop comes all rags, UTG bets out which I expected, 1 caller. I raise as I figure I may have the best hand and at the very least may get some free cards. UTG reraises. oops most likely a big PP, oh middle position folds. I call, as I have seen this player reraise with nothing and then check when called. Plus I have two overcards and might get a reaction from A-K. 4th brings a K. Im weary of AA or KK, I check he bets and I raise, he just calls. hmmm. 5th rag I bet he calls. He has QQ. I win the pot. He goes on tirad about lucky & stupid. perhaps he's right but I am too busy calculating how many tacos from The Bell I can buy with the pot. Later in the night, I have K7 from the BB. 5 callers I check. Flop comes 2K8. with a diamond draw. hmmm. I hate these situations. I don't want to check and give free cards plus I am in a tough situation if it gets bet late. Raise with low kicker? Based on preflop I probably will just get called by a stronger K. I decide I will bet out and fold to a raise. I bet....4 callers 4th brings nothing I bet 2 callers. 5th brings a 7!. Yeah I feel better now. I bet and UTG player raises. Im thinking perhaps a set or maybe 2 pair as well. But at the same time its pretty much a no brainer call. other player calls as do I. The UTG raiser (same player from earlier hand) shows AA!. LMAO at this point. I win with 2 pair on a hand that at any time I would have folded up until the river. I also believe there is a lesson here. In a multiway pot AA will be the BEST HAND 35% of the time. Notice I did not say winning hand. It is up to the player to play it right. This player through poor play (IMO) cost himself not only the pot but also everything he put into it because he wanted to be trickey. That was one of his 3.5 of 10 times AA will be good. God (Poker of course) help him on the other 6.5 times | ||
