Opinions on the multi limper/big raise play, Dr_Monkey, 7. Oct 2003 08:09

I have noticed in a few SnGs it seems profitable to make a large raise if you are LP or OTB and 3-5 limpers are before you (excluding the BB and SB). Everyone folds to the big raise and you get a better steal than just the SB and BB

I have considered trying it a few times, especially when the table respects a raiser and the blinds are around 25/50.

At 25/50, with 3 limpers, the BB, and SB, you are looking at a 225 pot. Make a 225 raise or more. Not a bad steal if you can get it.

My question is, should I be thinking of stealing like this?

I think if the limpers have similiar stack sizes as me, most won't want to call.

and what are good stealling hands?

ANY hand is a good stealing hand, if you can be sure you will steal.

However, since someone should pick up on that sooner or later (or actually have a hand to play), you might want to pick your spots AND steal with hands that have some small hope of catching something to win.
This is now known as the WPT Phil Hellmuth "Don't steal with 32 against a loose aggressive player" rule.
