Laying down AA, Hatchthunder, 6. Oct 2003 08:31

I went to Foxwoods this past Saturday and played some $4-$8 holdem. I left up $294 yahoo!!!!!!!!
I really think my game has improved. I was finally able to lay down pocket rockets. I was on the button 5 callers to me I raise sb folded bb calls the other 5 call. Flop comes Kd7d7s check, check, check, bet, raise, reraise, I fold my AA because the guy who reraised was a rock who played EXTREMELY tight. This guy counted his chips after every hand. I could see him looking at his chips and calculating how much he was going to win. He took down a huge pot when a diamond came on the turn and 2 people made flushes to his quad 7s. I was very pleased with my play. Usually I even if I knew my AA was no good I would at least call to the river because they are AA. I made my fold with not a second thought.

I just wanted to thank every poster for helping me get me to really think about my game. My game has really improved from reading about how you pros handle different situattions. Thanks

The guy with Quad's was a fool for re-raising on the flop the first place. He lost his own customers. 6 handed before the flop, not hard to imagine someone with a 7, let alone pocket 77's. Yes, its hard to let go of AA and id say most players call the reraise in that situation thinking if they catch A on the turn or river, theyre good.

If i have 1 seven I would raise there so why not with 2? Just cause you have quads doesn't mean
you play the hand differently then when you have a 3 of a kind. Reason being is you want the flush
drawers to pay there not going anywhere cause there dumb lol. Honestly so you lost the ace ace but
the flush drawers arent going anywhere and if you raise on turn and flush didnt hit they may fold.
The raise on the flop is a good raise. When the diamonds come he should just call and let the
diamonds raise until the river as he well get 2 extra bets that way. Play it as he has trips not quads.
