NYC to Atlantic City - daytrip?, blufftoomuch, 5. Oct 2003 22:23

| I am going to be in NYC in a few weeks and will have a day to kill. Is it worth going down to Atlantic City (the Taj presumably) for just a day trip? What would be the best way to do this? Are there any places closer to NYC that have poker? | ||

One option is to take an Academy bus from Port Authority bus terminal. The buses are decent and the schedule is great. But be careful trying to get back to NYC on weekends because you might have to wait to get on a bus. Foxwoods is about the same time/distance from NYC. No legal games are any closer

| Thanks. Is it feasible to go to Foxwoods for a day trip, and if so what's the best way to do that? I don't mind spending some $$$ to get there, but I don't want to spend six hours on a bus eiither. | ||

| I think the bst way to get there is by driving. I don't know of any buses to Foxwoods so rent a car and go at your leisure | ||

| You can get to Foxwoods or Atlantic City easily by bus. That's what I do because renting a car often means having it for the whole weekend and that gets expensive. The problem with the bus is that that last one goes back to NY around 10 or 11 PM. After that, you're stuck and it sucks to be in a great groove and have to leave to catch the bus. I did the Academy bus to Mohegan when their room was still open. It was 27 bucks and they gave you a voucher for 10 dollars at the buffet or food court and two 10 dollar match bets on the Wheel of Fortune. I think they do something similar for Foxwoods. Your other option is the Chinatown bus. Their deals depend on their mood. The last time I went I paid twenty bucks and they gave me 25 back when I got off the bus. In cash too. No vouchers or anything. They have buses that go to the Hilton and Tropicana in AC. Hope this helps. beigs | ||
