I will be moving to Las Vegas next year and I was wondering what exactly is involved in becoming a poker dealer. I have heard of dealer schools, do all casinos require some sort of official training or is it generally in house? Do people generally get hired straight in to a dealing job or are they generally expected to start out in lower position? Any info that you can give me is greatly appreciated.

Although there have been exceptions, plan on going to dealers school. There are only a few places that accept break-in dealers once you have completed school - I don't recall the list but the Orleans is one of them (I believe their are five). Don't try to save money on an inexpensive school - the difference shows.
