Is anyone experiencing a really bad run at Empire, I have had an unbeleivably bad run. Just curious. If anyone else is having same problem at Empire. Just want to hear someone is winning, and party hasn't programmed it only for their site to win.

Hey Stevolley2,

If it makes you feel any better, two of my friends play on Empire and they both had winning weeks this week. Experiencing a bad run of cards and dry spells happens though, and it happens to us all. Hang in there, and better luck to you.

Thanks, sometimes you question yourself, and hearing people are winning, means I just have to play better.

Hey,

Whether you've been booking multiple losses, OR multiple wins.......you (we) always have to play better.....and better......and better! I feel that it is so important to constantly analyze your game, regardless of how well you may be doing at the current time. It just seems more natural for some players to think about it more when they're losing- but you need to do it when you're winning, too.

If you feel that you may be slightly off your game, then take some time to think about it. I find that by skimming through some old poker books, and even just reading some articles in CP mag. to be helpful, too. "Anything" that may make something 'click'......can and will be a big help. It may be something so small (or should I say, something that may not be easily picked up on).....and then you read a poker article somewhere....or even a post here and there on the UPF that helps you to see your game a little bit better than you saw it yesterday.

Clear your mind from any negative thoughts, (like maybe Empire is rigged!...j/k), and focus on why you're playing your hands the way you're playing them.......pay close attention to the game......and play with confidence, or don't play at all. And hey, perhaps learning a new game might do you some good, too! It's so good to have a choice; and to be able to play more than one game, really does make poker more exciting! (at least for me it does). Keep all of your options open, that's all. You may be surprized when you discover a new game.....one that you 'really' enjoy as well, and one that may be your new found edge!

just some thoughts here, Stevolley.

I have done that and it has helped, I even took a look at my hand history and feel as though I am not playing bad. Just bad luck. Trying to fight through. I do appreciate your support. This is my first experience of a long losing streak as I am a relatively new player (1 year). I do have some interest in turing pro, and based on my results feel it is possible. Before I do that, along with saving 6 months living expense and 300-400BB, I would consider a huge favor if you wouldn't mind me treating you to a nice dinner in AC and talking about "the life of a pro." Thanks again.

HI Steve--In addition to the positive responses you've gotten from Dave, let me re-assure you as well. I'm a regular player at Empire, and have experienced several puzzling lon dry spells. Also. some considerable successes. All my play has been in sngs with ony a few 3exceptions in limit ring games. If you play sngs, one thing to remember is that one mistake or one "bad beat" can either knock you out of the money or cripple you. I have experimented with different playing styles as well which can cause losses. I have had at least 2 cases where i would be out of the money for 10 games in a row then in for 3 out of 4. As Dave said read UPF every day, and read CardPlayer magazine from cover to cover. Poker is fascinating, and thats why i love the game as im sure you do too.

Good luck Gary

I've played most sites and currently play Empire and Party. There's no difference between the two. Just curious, but what are you calling a bad run?

8 out of 10 losing sessions, when I am used to it being 7 out of 10 winnning sessions. Looking back part of it was me, but most of it was cards.

I think using session winning % as a performance gauge is dangerous to your bankroll. Aside from not having any real meaningful value (winning $10 for nine sessions and losing $100 in one doesn't make one a winning poker player despite how great a 90% session win rate sounds), it can reinforce behavior that is completely counter to winning strategies. Like leaving a good table just so you can book a win or staying at a bad table because you don't want to book a loss.

I agree, it is only a statistic for short term luck, and over those sessions I am slightly down. not 80% down. Just not normal, that's all.

I play at Empire frequently, and have enjoyed modest success, albeit at the lower limits. Incidentally, it appears to be a sister site to PartyPoker--everything is the same except the name.
Everyone "runs bad" at some point or other, some of us more frequently than others, so I would not attribute your bad run to the site. Just play solid poker, pick your spots, and play aggressively when you enter a pot.
Good luck
