| Hello this is my first post long time reader. My question is about 7 card .I play at party and keep getting sucked out at river. Am I mistaken are not the odds terrible to run the river, as opposed to holdem. And any thoughts on how to defend . Party seems to pay off way to much to the river runners. | ||

| This is just my opinion, having experienced the same problem, so some might disagree with it. I find on 4th street that if i have an ok hand like aces against 3 or 4 players, that it can be better to check rather than bet. If you bet on 4th and get too many callers (even those holding weak hands), you're creating a pot big enough for them to call again on 5th. If you wait till 5th, you can often make a better desicion on how to proceed. If your hand hasn't improved, and you feel you are being outdrawn, you can fold having made a minimum investment. If you decide to bet, you should end up with fewer callers, due to the smaller pot and the double sized bet, who are drawing against you at much reduced odds and so making their calls even more incorrect. | ||
