Blind progression in a home NL game?, Candide, 3. Oct 2003 08:40 | ||

| Tomorrow we are doing our first NL tourney at my place, only will have around 20 people (jax FL btw). Small buy in just to get people hooked, but we have been playing various games for the last 2 months about 2 nights a week. Anyways, starting with 1000 in chips, what is a good progression for blinds? We were thinking along the lines of raising blinds every 25 minutes, with a 10 minute break after every other raise. At UB, the tourneys are obviously a bit faster, but the general progression is 5/10, 10/20, 15/30, 20/40, 30/60, 50/100, 75/150, and so on. Does that seem right? Do you think it would be too slow that way? That covers 3 and a half hours, I just think that seems a bit low but really not sure. Thanks for all the help! | ||

| Also, what is the best way to handle someone when they don't have enough money for a BB? Do you just do a side pot or restrict this from happening? Seems like a side pot would be a major pain. | ||

| Raising the blinds every 25 minute is pretty quick for a home game. Without a professional dealer the game is slowed down. I would suggest 45 minute limits and a break after every 3 sessions if that. People can get up and take a break whenever they want. Yes, use a side pot, it's not that much of a pain and it is the most fair way. Brent | ||
