| I was just looking over the latest cardplayer articles on the net and came across Brian Mulholland's "How Tiger Woods helps your poker game". If you are serious about the game.... spend the time reading this article. It outlines ,in my opinion, the most important concept that is necessary to be understood, respected, and exercised if you want to stay in action in poker. It's pretty difficult to win if you can't ante up every day. Just my thoughts. GRANT PITTMAN | ||

| That was a great article and it really made me think about my last week of playing. I had been catching some really bad beats/cards and it had eaten away through a nice chunk of my cash. I noticed I would get impatient after the long stretches of bad hands and would have to really stop myself from pressing(usually by stopping altogether). After an entire week of having break even/lose slightly nights I made myself take a day or two off to clear my head. After reading that and some other articles as well as reviewing some books of mine I decided to step back into the game tonight. 2-3 hours and (very)few pots later I was exactly even. Normally I might get be slightly aggitated or impatient but having just read about this type of thing I put it aside and waited patiently some more. Finally, on a pocket pair of 4's from the button I make a set on a rainbow flop against 6 people. ALL 6 stay in to cap the flop and stay for some nice raises at the turn and I pull in a 68 dollar pot in a 1-2 game, putting me way up for the night(nice game huh?). Next hand is AQ and I make 3 queens for another 40 dollar pot. I ended up making more than I had lost over the entire week in just 2 hands. Anyway, had I started pressing throughout the week I probably would still be down but instead I'm now up. Just starting out(as I am) these bad runs can really get to me so it helps to read articles like this. | ||

| to me it can be summed up almost perfectly for almost anything in life, DONT BEAT YOURSELF! if the other guy plays better, gets luckier (draws out) or whatever and you happen to lose, just tell yourself you did the best you could and go on to the next hand/session. | ||

| Hi. Grant is certainly correct. I like to tell the story of Tiger making a putt to win one of his majors. In an interview, he said "I made the putt, thyen I realized there were no more shots to mkae." THis is the ultimate inplaying in the moment, without worrying what happened before, or what might happen if... Poker is exactly the same. The true winners know all they need to to do in MAKE A QUALITY DECISION NOW. If you face every decision this way, without worrying about who beat you, or who is dealing, or how many flushes you might have missed, you will play as well as you can. BarryT | ||

| dont play scared!! when im at the track and my horse loses, i always try to fing the positive in what happened. i may have missed, but the race may have played out exactly how i thought it would and i just got unlucky. you can lose a hand or your horse can get snapped at the wire by a nose hair, but how you play the next one is important. and seeing the positive in whatever happened helps you keep your confidence to be a winner... on 8.
