NLHE Single-Table Satellite Advice?, Bart Mann, 2. Oct 2003 08:51 | ||

| Good Morning: Tomorrow night I'll be playing in my first NLHE "single-table" satellite tournament. 10 guys pay $100 each, and the winner receives a $1,000 seat to a much larger (and more lucrative) tournament later this month. I've played in three NLHE super-satellites recently, where you start with 250+ people paying $30 each, and the top 25 win seats. These tournaments have been loaded with unlimited rebuys, add-ons, that sort of thing. But the tournament tomorrow is obviously a different animal. 10 total players, no rebuys, and a single winner takes all. In the super-satellites the strategy was to survive until the rebuy period was over, then play tight-agressive. But with this alternate format, I'm not sure what to expect or how to approach it. To me, it's got the feeling of the final table at the WSP--which I love. Does anyone out there have a bone or two they can throw my way? How are others going to play? How should I play? What pitfalls should I look out for? Thanks for your help, everyone. - Bart - | ||

| Well first of all - CONGRATS! I play lots of 10 man tourneys and in my experience (which is limited) just play tight and aggressive. A few more hands as the blinds are small but mostly -Just WAIT for your hand. Also Bluff people off the button and blinds if they are easily scared off. Good luck and tooooooo cool. Malachii | ||

| LOL, Modest Mice I like you I really do! C'mon now I have no evil intentions here, a guy asked for advice and I said that I had something that would help him BUT it was a guide right? Well, as I had got it for nothing I was willing to give it away for nothing BUT I didnt write it Ok? It was given to me actually as I had asked this question waaay back and know what? Since I have read this it has totally changed my outlook on the game and my play has improved so vastly in tourneys that I cant begin to tell you, seriously. Now the guy who first asked this question, hasnt even been back and when I seen the date I noticed that I was most probably going to miss giving him the advice for his tourney which was prob over by now anyway! The reason I offered it to him on the side, and was even nice enough to leave my e-mail addy was because I was going to ask him NOT to pass it on because its NOT MINE! I couldnt in good concience give something away that wasnt mine like that without asking first, I have since asked and the answer was if I have a FRIEND that I want to give it to thats fine BUT PLEASE dont give it out over the NET to just anyone being it wasnt meant for that and it is this guys virtual roadmap on how to play the tourneys Ok Mice? So, at this time you can even win this round and I will say that the "guide" is no longer available and wont be forwarded to anyone who happens to ask anyway, so Im sorry. \ \ Suprised that it bothered ya that much tho, I really was only trying to help spme poor guy, why didnt ya just ask for a copy for yourself? lol | ||
