| After reading a post about % in the money in SNGos I decided to check my own records. From Jan 1st to Oct ist I played in 254 sng to. and thr results are 1st place 24 times 2nd 35 times 3rd 41 times and 4th 5 times, all other finishes were out of the money and many by a few spots. So about 41% of the time made the money. Any one else keeping records? would like to know if this is a good % or is it below par. Feedback please. The figures are accurate and not fudged for ego purposes. | ||

| good question, would you believe I don,t know. I play ring games and multi Tourneys also, just a guess I would say its close to a break even % will have to check it out. Darn more figuring!!!!. Short version in 10 months with every thing ring games and sngos and muitl table Tourney I'm stuck $200.00 at this exact moment in time. So $20 a month for entertainment expense. These figures are not fudged either and any one who plays knows how bankrolls flucuate. | ||

| I did the math: For 254 games, it would cost $2794 to enter $10+1 SnGs Based on 1st - 24 times, 2nd - 35 times, 3rd - 41 times You are in the money 100 times, or 39.4% you would have gotten $3,070 in winnings. So you would have a profit of $276 from SnGs. For $5+1, you have $11 For $5+0.50, you have $138 For $30+3, you have $828 For $50+5, you have $1,380 | ||

| It's profit, so that's good! However, the ROI is about 10% and even at $50 tables it's only about $6/game (hour average?), so don't quit the day job. I'd also split the numbers by date to see if you are trending toward more winning or staying consistent. Tim, thanks for providing the stats. I don't have enough of my own numbers to assess yet, but it's good to have something to compare with. I can say that I have more wins (fewer place/shows) and more early exits. Profitable so far, but the n is too small to be meaningful. So what do I know? GR | ||

| Thanks Dr monkey I guess I have to move up to a higher level, and see what happens. My record keeping will be set up in 3 categories, SNG ,multi To. and ring games. Probably keep a running total monthly. Thanks all for the feedback. Tim C | ||

| I think 50% will get you a decent profit. 60% would be pretty damn good I think. My guess is based on my stats for a lot of tournaments at IRC poker. | ||

| Bottom line has to be profit. If you're in black, you are above par. There may be better or worse ROIs, but profit is king (or ace). Winning % is meaningless except as a means toward calculating earnings or pride. GR | ||

| Tim, I have no idea what is average, good or excellent, but one of our resident pro authors said he thought my results were excellent. I do know that I am well satisfied. I might mention that I play $10 limit set and goes exclusively. I tried the $30 tournies and got my butt handed to me badly in three tournies. It doesnt take me long to know when I am outclassed, so I went back to the $10 tournies. Since Sep 1st, I have played 96 limit ($10+1 buyin) with the following results: 49% in the money. Average finish of 4.02. 17 firsts, 20 seconds, and 11 thirds. My average win rate per tourney for 96 tournies was $5.87. Motivation, IMHO, determines what each of us wants to accomplish. I am retired and play to pass the time, I like the challenge, and I do win a few bucks. I am not interested in "moving up." We all have different goals, and I am happy that I have met mine. If one doesnt set their goals too high, one wont be disappointed or lose a ton of money. Dont be too proud to move back down a limit or two if you are losing your butt I hope others will post their results; but regardless of others' results, I am happy with mine. Hope you meet your goals are are happy too. Don Quixote on 1. Oct 2003 17:07 Tim C wrote: > After reading a post about % in the money in SNGos I decided to check my own > records.
