| I just got back from 4 days in AC and thought I'd comment on the three major poker rooms at which I played. I played mostly 2/4 holdem Borgata: By far the most plush and clean. This is where poker's new found popularity is most evident. The crowd was the usual mix, but with a much greater contingent of younger (20 something) players. Overall a really nice experience, but I found the games there to be the toughest of the three. Tropicana: The trop poker room is dirty, dingy and old. That being said, They do offer a good variety of lower limit games. The games are pretty loose and attract a lot of the gambler types. If you can handle the swings, these games can be very profitable. The nightly tourneys are the saving grace for this dungeon of a room. I had the opportunity to play in my first live tourney, although it was seven stud, which is far from my specialty. It was a great experience, and I played very well lasting well into level 7. Taj : The Taj appears to still be the premier room in AC. It is not as nice as the Borgata but much larger, and they have the largest variety of games available. It seems like the high rollers and big names still call it home (Phil Ivey was playing there sunday night). The 2/4 holdem games had the most action of all the games I played. The pots were huge. If you made a hand it payed of tremendously. The best low limit game in AC in my opinion is the 2/4 omaha 8 game with a half kill at the taj. It wasn't as loosey goosey as the holdem tables but still loose enough to be profitable. The table was full of regulars who were relatively good players. This was a little intimidating at first, but once they recognized I was not a major fish, I was able to get right into the flow of the game. I was even able to dictate the pace of the game for quite a while. Overall I would recommend any of these rooms to those visiting AC, but The Taj was an overwhelming favorite. | ||

| have posted that the room was closed because of alleged skimming and supposedly a prostitution ring being run (?!). Their rumor reports also have it that the poker room will reopen during later renovations to the Mohegan Sun- not sure when this is supposed to occur. Of course, all of this is 3rd hand, but the posters seem legitimately informed. | ||

Thanks easy--the question came up at our Wed discussion group. ( attendees include Barry Tannenbaum and Alan schoonmaker ). Some feel that Mohegan just made a stupid mistake and are doing a PR move, other tell the theft and hooker story. i'll check on 2 + 2 thanks. > > Of course, all of this is 3rd hand, but the posters seem legitimately informed.

| Thanks for the info, but when you said those 20 odd year olds at the Borgata were the toughest competition you faced out of all three casinos? Seems strange. How long did you play? coulda just been bum luck | ||

| while they were young, many seemed to be relatively educated players. I agree that luck was a factor, but the level of play, overall was more disciplined. | ||

I liked the Tropicana becuase I like more 'old school' casinos (despite my age.) It's also easy to get to since the Chinatown bus from NYC goes right there. But the games were populated with mostly older people and, while the games weren't necessarily tougher, they weren't as much fun as the Taj. And the dealer's weren't nearly as good at the Trop. beigs

| Agreed about TM...had a nice day at a Taj $2/$4 table in August...won just under $300 although Hokie 95 wouldn't agree with me. I made this over about 7.5 to 8 hours, and found the pots to be big, and the players to be quite loose passive, even when being raised before the flop...seems like 5-7 players see the flop every time, even if it was raised. | ||
