| Greetings all! Been playing LLHE and been getting just squashed lately. Ive been playing good starting hands but havent been able to even pair up on the flop. All of my wired pairs that set on the board are getting flushed or str8ed out. Should I lower my starting hand requirements like the resat of em or stand my ground? Sounds more like a whinefest but this is beginning to annoy the heck out of me. | ||

| Mr Bippy, There are many factors that may be contributing to your lack of wins right now. It may simply be that your going through a run of bad luck or you may need to adjust your table and game selections. As much as we don't want to believe that the cards are against us it does happen and to many great players just the same. I have personally went weeks on end with out seeing starting hands to volunteerly enter a pot with. (I know mathmatically we should get the same amount of good starting hands vs. bad every session, but this doesn't always happen.) On the flip side, if your getting good starting hands and are losing with them you might want to re-examine your game. Are you pushing marginal hands too far because you haven't been winning? Are you playing at the right skill/money level? Are you playing in tight or loose games, which games are best suited to your style? You mentioned that your loosing with sets, are you betting them hard enough or are you slowrolling to try and make one big kill when they do hold up? Are you losing to open ended draws and not believing the bettors when they make it or are you simply running into bad players who go to far with ugly gutshots who then get there vs. you? Poker is going through a giant popularity explosion and we all have to make adjustments to our games to adapt to the new level of play. I suggest re-examining your game and why your not winning right now. You can correct this but you have to really study why your not winning and make the correct adjustments to your game. The biggest recomendation I would make to you is not to loosen up. Tight aggressive play is going to win over the long haul. Remember poker is a marathon and not a sprint. Even though you might go through some downturns playing tight you will win much more in the long run playing this way. | ||
