| That's a very good article. I would say that even his super-tight strategy of ONLY playing big pairs AK and AQ is good enough to beat loose low limit games. It would definitely work if you added suited A's and small pairs in late position when there are lots of callers. However, it is not maximizing EV. Everybody says you need to tighten up before the flop in loose games, but in fact, it is AFTER the flop that you really need to tighten up if the game is loose. You can sneak in with drawing hands, but with 6 or more players seeing the flop, it's FIT or FOLD. Small pairs and suited connectors LOVE loose games, along with suited A's, as long as there isn't too much preflop raising, and as long as you are good enough to fold when you only catch a little piece. If there is a lot of pre-flop raising, then you only play the drawing hands from late position, when it's cheap enough for the amount of callers you have. Anyway, in really loose games, a hand like 76s can be huge in this type of game if you hit the flop well, you just have to know when to play it. However, the players are so bad in the loose games, that you could easily follow Cowboy Carl's strategy and come out a winner over time. | ||
