| Last night I was playing a tourney, did really well the first half and then things got loose. It seems the second half of my game goes downhill, and I make some really bad choices. Does this happen to anyone else? I placed 130 something out of 750+, not in the money, and I felt distracted, in a way...went all in with a A10 os and was busted out by a flush on the river(my life story)...was that a stupid move on my part, and how do I keep myself focused? Thanks! Kimmi :) PS: I picked up Zen and the Art of Poker...LOVE IT!!!!! | ||

| well, a10o is not the greatest hand...but as far as in general, 2nd half play is obviously much tougher. the people that are left are either actually good or are very aggressive and built up nice stacks playing loose and got lucky. you might want to examine how well you actually play in tournys a little closer. obsession with how how out of how many is not a real indicator of skill and or future sucess in tournys in my opinion. u are probably a newer player that just needs to get better and then you will compete much better with the strong players in the 2nd halfs of tournies, and it seems like you are working on it. reading is definately a great start. also, examine your overall play without focusing only on things like "i had AA and he sucked out with XX" or other such bad beat situations. new players constantly do this and it wont help u win. more imortant is how read other players, betting patterns and just knowing when to be aggressive (when u have the edge) and paying close attention to stack sizes , not just what hand you have. blah blah blah, this is all probably been said, but im new so who cares!! gl on 27. | hmmm. ok, maybe poker isnt your thing!!! not bragging but i do very well in tournys and ive never had a loss of interest, ever ever. getting closer to that final table is the thing i live for as a poker player and nothing keeps me more interested! but seriously, i would try to only play when u feel you'll give your best. to many times people play when they are in a bad mood(tilting) or just dont have the competetaviness(nice speeling huh) at the time. play when you are into it, unless you dont mind not getting to the final table. also, maybe those 700+ tournies are too big and long, try to enter higher limits with fewer people. much faster, better players, yipee! | ||
