| I have been playing online for a while, but havent played in B&M. I do play regular home games. Ive notice that from my continous online play, i have picked up some very useful skills. Being able to read betting patterns. I have noticed that I am to sometimes read online players hands, if they have a distinct betting pattern routine. Even when Im not in the hand I still try and read the other players cards. I believe its helped alot. I usually kick butt in our home games now, due mainly to online playing and UPF. Im very eager to play in AC. Do you think betting patterns are easier to detect online or live. Reading opponents in a B&M is another obstacle. I dont think im going to put too much weight in my reads the first couple times I play in AC. But if they do have a betting pattern, I hope I can pick that up. Tip: Try and read players betting patterns online. I may help you when you play in a live game. | ||

| I think that the poker skills you gain on-line are extremely valuable in live play. There are other intricacies that you will have to master to be an excellent live player, but the strategies and overall way to play cards that you can learn on-line are necessary for both on-line and live play. You can only become an expert at tells and such through study and a lot of live play, but you can at least learn to play your own cards well and to detect betting patterns as you described on-line. I know that my live results have improved tremendously from all the experience I have gotten on-line. The nice thing about live play is that the game is a little slower, so you have more time to study your opponents and more time to absorb the knowlege you gain. | ||

| Hi Eman It is WAy easier to read players in live games....Yousee their faces and mannerisms...You can acquire "feel" from that....Online is much tougher....If you can do it online you wil be a good reader in AC! | It's probably also worth noting that it is easier for them to read you to | ||

| I definitely gained some skills...but more than anything, it seems to be the practice of knowing what are good hands to playing with. The more and more garbage you see being played online, the more you learn what's good and what's not. I made a killing at $2/$4 in atlantic city ($300 over 8 hours) by being tight and aggressive...that is, playing and raising preflop with big pocket pairs (and occasionally 88 or 99) or A-J and higher. Too many people hang around looking to win with the middle and bottom pairs. | ||

| And you made $4 in the 23 minutes and 42 seconds between this post and your last one, in which you *allegedly* made $296 in 8 hours. hehehehehehehehehehe I catch everything. >:-) | ||

| Ok, $296. Believe me or don't, it's your call. I wouldn't lie about the fact that I did win the $296 playing from 11:30 to 7:00 in the evening at a $2/$4 table. Are you saying its inconcievable that I did? Look, I won probably 10-15 pots on the night of about $25-$30 each over the time period. Did I give some back? Sure, but I can guarantee you that I bought in for $50 in chips, and cashed out with $346. Even a hokie can do that calculation to get to $296. :) from a 1996 UVA graduate. No need to get in a p**sing match here. You don't have to believe me, but what do I gain by lying? Best of luck with your playing. RW | ||

| You know what RW? I never even saw this response to my post re: your mysteriously growing winnings. I wasn't saying I didn't believe you, I was just saying that the numbers were different in 2 posts that were posted within minutes of each other. Which I found a small amount of humor in. I always assumed the $300 was a rounding, not an attempt to inflate. Sorry if you thought I was coming after you. I wasn't. -Hokie95 "Richard, do I have a mark on my face? Not here, or here, but riiiight heeeerrreeeee." | ||
