| The blind structure is a factor in dictating how you should play. If the game is a two-chip/three-chip blind you need to play more aggressively since the little blind is almost always correct in calling. A two-chip/four-chip blind structure makes trapping a play with higher value. | ||

| The higher the ante, the more likely you should be to call. The principle here is similar to calculating to pot odds, I think. Basically, when either the blinds or the antes are high, your potential "return-on-investment" from calling the blinds goes up. Let's say (using an admittedly absurd example) that you're in a 10-20 game and the blinds are $9 for the small blind and $10 for the BB. If you're in the SB, you're getting a *minimum* of 19:1 odds to call the BB for one more dollar. You'd take those odds with 72o any day! But if the situation were reversed (say, the SB is $1 and the BB is $10), your odds on calling the BB are nearly 1:1--not worth calling without a good starting hand. Similarly, for ante structure, let's say that antes are (an absurdly high) $4 in a $10-$20 game (blinds are 5-10). With 10 players, your guaranteed at least $51 in each pot, so you're getting 51:6, or nearly 9:1 odds to put in the additional $6 to call the blind. Your calling standards should be quite loose in this situation. But if the ante were only $1, you're guaranteed only $23 per pot, so your odds on calling the BB go way down and your calling standards should go up. | ||
