| This has nothing to do with poker, but scams in general. I have a friend who was recently in Vegas. I asked her to bring me back a $5 chip from one of the casinos, so I could have it for luck. So, now I have these two chips, one from each of two prominent casinos on the main strip. In looking at them, I got to wondering...what would stop someone from finding a way to duplicate them, then simply waltzing into a casino, buying in for some chips, then adding their counterfeit chips to the stack? I realize it wouldn't be cake, but in looking at the chips, I don't really see anything cryptic that would prevent them from being easily duplicated. Not planning anything. just curious. anybody know anything about this kind of security in Vegas? thanks, Skinner | ||

| Chips are money to casinos and chip-makers employ security features to make counterfeiting difficult. The higher the chip value, the more security features it will have, including edge spots and color graphics. Low-value chips ($1 or less, tournament chips) may have fewer security features (no edge spots, gold foil graphics). Check out the websites of a few chip-makers for details. pokerchips.com and chipco.com are two sites with information about how chips are made and protected. | ||

| I really don't think you working out of your house could produce believable replicas of casino chips for less than the face value of the chip. But if you figure out a way you will cause an entire industry to rethink their way of business. on 25. | Casinos also will occasionally recall and reissue their larger denomination chips to help prevent this. But yeah, I'm sure there are security features you and I don't know about, and to make accurate smaller denomination ones it wouldn't be worth the money. Eli on 25. | I guess you have two options: 1) Make the chips yourself 2) Have a chip making company make them. Option 1 Like someone else posted, you "homemade" chip will be too costly for you to produce. I would imagine you need some pretty fancy molding equipment to produce a chip. Option 2 I doubt any company would make a casino chip for you. Holy liability batman. You get busted and tell the cops that company x made your chips with a casino logo. If you came to me and I was a chip maker, I would say sure I can make them, take your money, call the cops and the casino. You'd get your money back but you would be off to jail. | ||
