| I have been playing now for 3 months. I started at $1-2 and struggled for my first 2 months. I would go way up and then come back down. I worked on my game and fixed a lot (not all) of my leaks and believe I now play strong poker. I played the $1-2 until my bank roll was $400 and I then moved to $2-4. I got my bank roll up to $800, and cashed out $500. I then went back down to $1-2 until I was at $400 went to $2-4 until I was at $600 and cashed out $200. I then played the $2-4 until I was at $600 and moved to $3-6. My plan has been to move to $5-10 when I reach $1000. However I have reached this goal a lot sooner than I expected.(1 week at $3-6). My question is do you think 1 week is too short a time at $3-6 to move up to $5-10. I don't want to make a move too soon if there is still plenty to be learned at $3-6. I am considering cashing out $400 when I reach $1000 and waiting to see if I can rebuild it again. I don't need the money but could use it for some other things. Thoughts appreciated. | ||

| I would hold off moving to 5-10. It has been my experience that the 5-10 limit is where you start seeing more serious players and therefore the games are a bit tougher. I don't want you to take my caution as a negative on your game...you could be ready for the 5-10 level. However, there is a lot of bad players at 3-6 and plenty of $$ to be made there, so i don't think you need to rush. The worst thing you can do to your bankroll is to move up too quickly where the $$ swings are greater and the potential for damage to ypour poker psyche is higher. I think the best thing for you to do is each time you log on, play a 3-6 table and maybe watch a 5-10 table for a bit. If you see one that looks relatively soft, take a shot at it. | ||

| Good advice! From what I understand, there is a significant difference between $3-6 and $5-10 games, much greater than what you would encounter on a move from $2-4 to $3-6. That doesn't mean they aren't very beatable, of course, and if you continue to develop your game and work to improve you shouldn't have much trouble making the necessary adjustments. Good luck, Mark | ||

| On the site i frequent most, there is not a big difference between $3-6 and $5-10. the $5-10 game is tighter, but still has it's share of loose passive players. Many of the players float between limits and they don't suddenly become good players at a higher limit table. They may tighten up their starting requirements a bit, but still chase with garbage. The good players play tight aggressive at all the levels $3-6 to $10-20, while there is a little more chasing at the $3-6 vs $10-20(probably due to the small bet amount) even by better players, the bad players play bad at each level. | My question to you would be why do you want to move up in limits???. I would say if you are playing to make money then playing at a limit that you can dominate is the best answer. If you are trying to challenge yourself then Id say play 5 10 or 10 20 and prepare to fight for those chips. | ||
