I need a nickname, EC, 23. Sep 2003 14:58
View ( Message | Thread )       Return to Thread List
Being that I didn't take any time at all when signing up here in selecting a nickname (as evident by my highly-creative use of my initials), I would like a fancy new nickname. To make this fun for all, I'd like to make it a contest.

So, everyone out there on UPF, I invite you to think of a nickname for me. It can be anything you think appropriate, whether it be poker-related or not. As far as personality traits to work from, I really don't have much to offer, so whatever you concoct will work. I ask for submissions from anyone, and all I reserve is veto power over a final choice.

Winner of the naming contest will receive 1 (one) bought and paid for hot dog at Hollywood Park by me, fixins included. If you're nowhere near Hollywood Park, you shall receive the honor of knowing you did something decent for society.

I do realize this contrived method of finding a nickname is somewhat Costanza-ish, but I'm OK with that.

If I don't get an acceptable nickname I'm going to call myself Roy Cooke or Mike Caro, and I don't think they'd appreciate all the terrible advice they'd be accused of giving all of a sudden. Or I'll call myself Paint Ball Boy, even though I've never played paintball.

Have at it...

Thanks

Eli

First, it should be noted that the hot dogs at Hollywood Park are from Pinks hot dog stand--an LA institution and arguably the greatest in the world. So this is a very important contest.

Given that, I'd suggest a non-poker related nickname, perhaps an homage to Pink's most famous dish. EC...I dub you...

A poker nickname is a must (unless you name yourself after your alma mater). So, given that you're having trouble with this, you should name yourself after a troublesome poker hand. I always have trouble when I look down and see a King of one suit and a Jack of another. So, perhaps you could be King Jack Off or Jack King Off.

Sorry. I couldn't resist. I know the 15 year old will think it's funny.

I laughed for a good minute reading this... I had never made the King Jack off association in my mind, and believe me my mind LIVES in the gutter.

I will consider this suggestion officially under advisement.

you could use your "porn star name", which I hear is supposed to be your middle name as your first name and the name of the street you live on as your last name ... mine would be Franklin Gidney ... I'm sure if I went by that, I'd pull all the ladies

Another way is to use the name of your first pet as your first name and your street as your last (or maybe the street you grew up on)... That would make me Romeo Paulding (the street I grew up on).

Now I've got porn stars on the mind...I just got back from the premiere of the movie "Wonderland" (my company is releasing it), which is about John Holmes, and of course Ron Jeremy was there.

Damn.

Before this thread completely descends into the "what's my pornstar name" thread, I thought I'd announce my decision.

There were many excellent submissions. Many, oddly enough, were based on concepts related to porn, masturbation and anal sex. I suppose we all learned something about each other through this.

Since my mind is also in the gutter, I strongly considered many of these options, and have decided to accept GoBear's submission of King Jack off, or KJo for short. My reasons for accepting this nickname are threefold:

- anything that would make Beavis and Butthead laugh will make me laugh.

- I can be called King for short, which I encourage.

- most importantly, by GoBear's nickname I assume he is in the Bay Area, making it unlikely that I will actually have to buy him a hot dog at Pink's. Perhaps a burrito at Kim's sometime (is it still there?) So this was also a financial decision.

Honorable mention goes to EC in tha Threezie, but I didn't want to have to change it in a few months or whenever Snoop's language goes out of style.

Thanks to everyone for playing, and long live the King.

No matter the stakes or how many entrants, there's no better feeling than winning. As an FYI, had you chosen JKo, we could've called you Jake for short - but that is so 90210-ish - so I applaud your choice.

I'm no longer in the Bay Area. I've traded cool summers and rainy winters for unrelinquishing heat and sun in Phoenix. I'm originally from L.A., and have eaten my share of Pink's dogs, so I truly regret not being able to cash in one the prize.

Good luck King.

We're pushing 8 years now since we thought that crap was going away.

I still want my hot dog, but I want it from a Lucky Dog stand in New Orleans.

There ya go Kimmi. Someone I can identify with!!

I'm sure Lucky Dogs are just as good, and they don't cost $10, or whatever the state of California feels is an "appropriate" price for eating a hot dog on such a beautiful coast.
(I'm just venting at my siblings $500K house, that's 1500 sq. ft)

p.s. Change your signature now King.
