| What is the best thing to do in this situation: You are the dealer and get: 45 (suited) 3rd, 4th, and 5th positions raise. Almost everyone before you calls. So it looks like a lot of people have Aces, Kings, Queens, or Jacks. Should you call with your 45s? What if it were 45 unsuited? If it looks like everyone has high cards, shouldn't that really increase the probability of you getting a straight or full house? | ||

| What if someone has a high pair your going to have to hit your hand perfect to win. If 4 players are playing that means 5 others had crappy cards? Which means they can have your 45 or your 367. I think folding would be wise. You can justify any call if you really want to. What are the odds of a 45 beating 4 strong hands. Are they good enough to justify the call? I don't think they are. | ||

| I mean when nobody folds. (or only 1 or 2 people out of 9 or 10) Of course if half the table folded then the low cards are probably gone. | ||

| You still have to fold. You need to hit perfect cards to win the pot, and even if you flop a straigt, there will be all sorts of backdoor draws against you till the river. And with all the pre-flop betting, you will not eliminate anyone with a flop bett. The odds are really stacked agaisnt you to come out with a winner. Most of the time you make a flush, it will not be good. If you make trips or a fullhouse, there will be bigger sets/boats out there. Of the few times you do make a hand, there will be better hands out there. Mark | ||

| OK I agree with you. I did some calculations and it looks like the small cards really don't have a chance, even if most of the cards left in the deck are small cards. | ||

| Hi. Fold. Suited, Offsuit. You are holding garbage. I have heard many players hold forth on the "everyone has big cards so all the little ones must be in the deck" theory. It is nonsense. BarryT | ||

| This theory is very, very weak, but can land you the OCCASIONAL huge pot. You do need to play very carefully, and you do need to hit your cards perfectly. When odds are calculated for hold 'em hands, the hole cards of everybody else are NOT factored in. What this means is that obviously, IF EVERYBODY HAS HIGH CARDS (which is still not a guarantee), then there will be less high cards left in the deck, and thus more small cards. However, this alteration of the odds is so miniscule that it won't make sense to make this play consistently. Once in a while, sure, why not? Mix up your play, it's healthy for your bankroll. Heh. Just BE CAREFUL. | ||
