Just finished in the money in one of those 1200+ tourneys. I got busted out at 93rd. Got a bad beat, all in w/ QQ and got nusted out when a 3-7suited made a str8. Got a whopping .88 for my three hours of play, but hey it felt great to get to the money...so psyched, cant sleep now. Alot of this success is due to the help and advice i have received and read on here.

It does feel awesome doesn't it? :)

Congrats spawgan. Next you'll be talking about final tables and first place prizes.

It was tough not to spend it to fast but oh well, at keast it is some profit. Better than a loss right?

The good thing about it is.... it makes you feel more confident, regardless of the $$ amount :)

Ah, I'm just kidding around. Seriously, I think those $1-3 buyin tourneys (or freerolls) are good practice for beginner players trying to get a feel for big multi-table tourneys. But don't spend too much time on them, just seems like a lot of time spent for not much reward. Now that you've done well and survived so many players, you may want to bump up the stakes and try a $10 or $20 tourney. Usually not quite the marathon the small buyin/freeroll tourneys are (you really went through +1000 players in just 3 hrs?). Players are tougher, of course, but that's where you want to be eventually.

I played in a $1 multi table yesterday on Party - my first. Finished 73rd out of 1000. Not sure how that stacks up, but I have to say I sure got a lot of poker for my buck. Played 3 hours, but got the type of experience one would get having to pay more money to play? Got much enjoyment out of it. Then hung around to see the real players do their thing. That was fantastic. I learned a lot there, too.

I would agree with 'Smells' here practice on the $1 tournaments but you will find they are very different from the $10-50 games. Play the free/$1 buy ins but once you have got your head around the pace of tournament play try and jump up to the bigger ones. The $10 mulit table games can be pretty soft and you will often get good results with pretty ' by the book' play.

A big well done for placing in this one now go and take a leap and play in a bigger one, you never know you might do even better !
