| The tournament is tonight at 10PM ET. I played one of the satellites this week and made it in. I looked this morning and there are already over 800 people signed up. It's a $300 + $20 tourney and it's going to be capped at 1200 people so I wouldn't be surprised if the prize pool made it to $360,000. Is there any different strategy for playing in a tournament that large? I don't think I've played any tourney that had more than 400 people. I would hope that with this many people there may be more dead money than normal, but it's hard to say. I've noticed the party poker multi-tables aren't as fishy as their SnG's.... | ||

| No real change in strategy that I can think of unless. Just be patient early and then become more aggressive as the tourny goes on. Good luck! Steve | ||

| I'm going to be playing. Since there were a lot of qualifiers for this thing, I'd imagine that most (maybe 70%?) of the field is going to be below average for tournament play skill, and that means I'm looking to get paid off on hands more than I normally would. I'm not going to enter a pot with marginal holdings that I would normally play in a ring game, such as AJo or KTs, because it's too easy to hit your hand and have it not be good. I probably won't play any suited connectors past the first one or two levels. I want to hit hands that I can be confident are the best and bet them hard, and avoid playing pots where I have to draw. I'm going to bluff far far less in the early and middle stages of the tournament because weaker players have a harder time letting go of their hands. Also realize that there will be less bluffing in general since chip supply is a lot more finite. I can't say that I like it being a limit event, but what can you do. If you see Schuster sitting across from you, say hi ;) Good luck Jav! Lee | ||

| Wow, I didn't realize it's a LIMIT tournament. Why in the world do they have NL satellites to qualify for a limit tournament?!? Now I'm going to be very out of my element. I've played plenty of limit SnG's, but the only multi-table limit tournaments I've played are the first UPF one at planet and ones at my local casino (but they usually are 50-80 people). With 1000+ this thing could take all night! Well with an incredible amount of luck maybe I'll see you at the final table. My party poker name is "Krichton", maybe I'll see you there! | ||

| I got bounced from the qualifier way earlier than is acceptable. But, if the tourney is anything like the PPM semis, the key is patience. If there's a thousand people in the field it's going to get really tight when there are around 200 left. At the same time, no flop is seen without a raise but the real key is patience. Even if you're short early, there are enough bad players that the one hand you do hit will put you right back in contention. beigs | ||

| Made it to the final 7 tables and in the money. Nice 1K score. But what a gruelling ordeal! I'm used to Stars tourneys that wrap up in 4 hours or so. Not these mega 1200 person, stall-athons. Everyone with a short stack started stalling when the money got near hoping others would bust first. Of course, every table did this, so what' the point? I went to bed at like 3:30am after busting and the next day I saw it didn't end until 8AM! Worth it if you make the final table, I guess. | ||

| Congrats on the money. I couldn't catch any cards and busted out relatively early. I really felt like I was on top of my game too, and made what I think were all the right moves, including reraising a guy on the flop with just ace high when I read him for a gutshot. He was a frequent bluffer that checkraised me after I had raised preflop. Turns out my read was right, but he managed to pick up what he needed. Such is poker. I'm a bit disappointed but I'm eagerly awaiting the next one. Hopefully I will do better. Lee | ||

| I busted out with about 400 people left. I'll spare you my bad beat whines, but I was pretty shocked at the hands that beat me on the river.... It was one of those tourneys where I kept getting too good of cards; but they just kept being beaten... | ||
