| Hey- In my experience, the best way to handle LL games like this is to play very straight-forward, no fancy stuff. Most of the competition in this kind of game is unsophisticated at best and will not respond to strategy because they don't understand it and are not saavy enough to look for it. So, bet when you got it, fold when you don't. Bluffing will be virtually useless, because they are not even thinking about what you might have, only what they have. An occasional check-raise of a big bet will get you a little extra, but I wouldn't plan on having that opportunity more than once a session or so. -Moz "You can see your reflection in the luminescent dash." | ||

| At low limits you should play pretty basic Hold Em. Play your strong hands in early position, play your drawing hands from late position. Work the free card play from late position all day long. When you've set up your free card play, say by raising on the button with a flush draw, if you miss your flush and it's checked to you go ahead and CHECK! I can't tell you how many times people set up the free card play beautifully and bet the turn even when they miss, unless you're on the nut flush draw and have 5+ players still in the pot this is not a really good bet. If you check the turn and miss, if you hit on the river of course you can bet, but if you miss on the river I don't suggest bluffing at the pot too often, people will often call you down with middle or bottom pair if you failed to check the turn. My point is the purpose of the free card play is to basically get to the river for just 1 big bet instead of 1.5 big bets if you let someone in early position take the lead. It will also give you an indication of the strength of your opponents hand if they re-raise you on the flop or bet out at you on the turn, this information can be helpful if you hold overcards to go with your straight or flush draw since you might be up against 2 pair or a set, not only will you doubt your overcards but you might more inclined to slow down a lot if the board pairs on the turn. Also I've learned that it is probably a better long term play to chase with middle or bottom pair when you hold an overcard to the flop than it is to just chase two overcards to the flop. The reason is with 2 overcards you're chasing 6 outs to make one pair, this is overall not that great a great play even when you hold AK AQ or KQ. A lot of time when you catch your ace someone else will make aces up and beat you. Now say you hold K8s and the flop comes 3 8 Q, if you held AK in this situation and someone else held AQ then you'd only have 3 clean outs to your K to win, however if you held K8s or the like and someone else hand AQ then you'd have 5 clean outs, 3 outs to the K and 2 outs to the 8. The point of chasing with middle or bottom pair with an overcard to the board is that you can sometimes beat a player who flopped top two pair or top and bottom pair. Say if you held A7 and somone else had KQ and the flop came K Q 7 then if you get any A or any 7 without a K or Q falling you'll win, however if you hold a hand like 78 then you can make your two pair and still lose, in which case you'd only have 2 outs for trips instead of 5. While chasing overcards or chasing with middle or bottom pair is not really a great play most of the time, sometimes the pot grows so large to warrant the chase. I'm not a huge fan of chasing with only 2 overcards however, since you never know when someone has already flopped a set or 2 pair, or when you hit your overcard to make one pair while giving someone else 2 pair. | ||

| Good tips man, but your words are probably wasted on a rookie looking for advice on a home dime and quarter game. Alas, I'm to lazy to type any advice so I'll just shut the fuck up... | ||
