| Tough hand at UB $.50/$1.00 NL table last night. Boftx was there, and can attest to this one. I've been on a great streak recently, and had just picked up about $140 the night before off this same table. So, I feel like I'm playing with house money. I'm in the BB and get K-10s. 1 EP player limps (loose player), along with 3 other MP limpers. Pot has approx $5.50. I get a free flop and see 9c-5s-7s. I bet $2.50 with two overcards and a flush draw. EP calls and 1 of the MP calls (very loose player). Pot now has $13. Turn is 6s, so now I have the 2nd nut flush. I bet $10 hoping for a caller who has an 8 to complete their straight. Sure enough, EP raises all in to $37, and MP raises me all in to $87. This is the biggest real money pot I've ever played in, and am nervous, but I don't put either of the other two on the nut flush due to the lack of early raisers, and still believe I have the best hand. I called. River brings 8s. EP had the 8c-10c to complete the upper end of the straight, but MP turns over 9d-9s for the straight flush. He raised all in with a set of 9's and a gut shot straight flush draw. By my count he had 8 outs to either pull the 8s or pair the board for a full house. I don't know many people who would've made that call with a straight and flush draw on the board. The $200+ pot went to him, and he left the table shortly thereafter. I was proud of myself for not unleashing a torrent of obscenities at him. It was a tough beat on the river, and I could've saved myself for an opportunity where I had better odds, but the rushing sound in my ears kept pushing me forward. Boftx makes me feel oh so much better by telling me, "That was an exciting hand for everyone". Thanks man. | ||

| That is a tough one, but he had 11 outs total (3 5's, 6's and 7's, the case 9, or the 8s). Doesn't make his call right, but maybe lessens your pain a bit? I lost a $700 pot once in 15-30 where I had turned the nut flush, only to see the river bring me the "steel wheel" which was beaten by another player who held the lone 6 of diamonds (board = Ks2d3d4d5d, where I had AKd and he held 6h6d). So, I DO feel your pain. Steve | ||
