So there I am in an Aruba Satellite with the chip lead, $33 satellite with 4 players left. Just waiting for someone to bust out and win my tourney chip. Suddenly, my computer is frozen and I get the UB "internet delay". I go to my modem and the whole line is dead.

Turns out, my cable service went out in my area for 10 minutes. By the time I reconnected through dial up service, the tourney was over (of course, when I went out, the three remaining players all won).

Any chance UB will reimburse me for that? Obviously it isn't their fault, but this is a brutal beat. Trying to calculate the odds on this happening.

Any guesses?

Don't feel special, it's happened to me twice. I quit playing sit and goes because my isp is so unreliable.

that does suck, but it happens, worse is when it is the server's err and not the line.

I DON'T KNOW, BUT CASINOS SEEM TO HAVE THE ATTITUDE
THAT MISTAKES HAVE THE EQUAL CHANCE OF BEING IN
YOUR FAVOR.

THIS IS WHY THE HOPELESS, REDICULOUS, STEALING RULE,
THAT ANY CARD THAT COMES OUT BEFORE THE ACTION IS
COMPLETE, CAN'T STAY, NO MATTER HOW OBVIOUS IT WAS
THAT THE PERSON WAS, OR WAS NOT GOING TO CALL.

"WELL, SOMETIMES YOU WIN BY THAT, SOMETIMES YOU LOSE"

I HAVE JUST STARTED PLAYING ON U.B., SO I DON'T KNOW IF
THEY, UNLIKE OTHERS HAVE ANY CONCERN FOR THE
INTEGRITY OF THEIR GAMES.

I LOST BETWEEN FOUR AND TEN BILLS, BECAUSE OF A
SOFTWARE ON PARTY POKER, THAT SOMETIMES DOES NOT
ALLOW A PLAYER TO RAISE , EVEN WHEN A RAISE IS OPEN,
AND THE PREVIOUS RAISE WAS OF SUFFICIENT AMOUNT TO
REOPEN THE BETTING.

I MADE IT 45 WITH JJ, A PLAYER WENT ALL IN FOR 125, THE BLIND
CALLED.
NOW, I WANTED TO GO ALL IN, AND BASED ON THEIR STYLE
OF PLAY, THE BLIND, WITH POCKET FIVES, VERY LIKELY WOULD
HAVE CALLED.

THE FLOP WAS Q 8 8, AND I GOT CHECK RAISED BLUFFED OUT
OF THE POT, PLUS ANOTHER 250 IN CHIPS.

NOW, I'M NO DUMMY, AND IF I HAVE OVER TWO THOUSAND IN
THE SINGLE TABLE EVENTS, I'M GOING TO PLACE IN THE
EVENT, NO QUESTION.

OH, I FORGOT TO MENTION THAT A JACK HIT THE TURN, BUT
I OF COURSE WAS OUT.

SO, BECAUSE OF PARTY'S ERROR, I AM OUT BETWEEN

$400, AND $1000, DO YOU THINK THEY WOULD EVEN GIVE

ME MY BUY IN BACK? NO WAY. AND THIS IS

THEIR MISTAKE, NOT A SERVER.

YOU MUST NOT HAVE BEEN AROUND LONG, IF YOU THINK
THIS IS A BAD BEAT.

I HAVE BEEN CHEATED OUT OF OVER SIX THOUSAND DOLLARS
WORTH OF JACKPOTS, BY PLAYERS WHO DIDN'T KNOW
HOW TO PROCEED IN A JACKPOT GAME.

Similar thing happened to me when at the final table of a NL Mutli a few weeks ago except it wasnt my cable service as i could access other web sites. It turned out it had happend to half the table and where as before i was a comfortable 2nd with 9 left i came back to be 4th with 5 left !

After writing an email to UB they refunded my buy in ( i didnt ask them to i was asking them when i would be able to access the site ). I take stuff like that to be part of playing on line and i think that everyone has the same risk and if people are not willing to take that risk they should not play online.

As for your case Mr O i would drop them a note saying what happened i am sure it will fall on sympathetic ears !

Good Luck next time, you will get to Aruba yet !

My non-cable hook up goes out all the time. I just wait until it gets back.

If I would have heard the line click off, I would have logged back in frantically.

The entire ISP was down?.......not much you can do except find a better ISP.

Well,
First off, i dont think they will refund ur money since not ur
their fault. It happened to me on party poker, i just
busted the third guy and playing for first and i got
disconnected. Now i wrote to party and here's the
lame excuse they gave me "somewhere in ur internet
connection a server was down so we won't compensate.
its not the server in my town but somewhere in the U.s.
I started with dial up but loss a first place for 500 dollars
and switched to broadband, it works better.
