Placed second in a multi NLHE today. Over the past two weeks been putting more thought and practice into NL and I think it is starting to pay off. I've found that cautious selection and aggressive play are nice for maintaining or building the stack, then trying to mix it up when I have the money to back suited connectors. Was too short stacked to really eat into first places chips, she made her flush draw on the river to beat the two pair i flopped and bet hard, when the turn was safe card, I went all in to be called and beat. I'm happy with the play and happy with results, the rest are the cards and I can't argue with them.
Read an interesting article about Men, seems that the correct play usually really is a raise or a fold. I found that often if I can't raise it, I'm really chasing or second best, hoping for more. Keeps the loss to a minimum and the wins to the maximum.

Peace,
R.Dale

Thats very true in NL. You almost never have odds to draw for any straight or Flush. So if you dont have a hand where you can raise, the safest play is to fold.

I did get the opportunity earlier in the week to take out an overly aggressive player on the nut flush draw, but that was more of a play based around how they would have bet the hand. Make it expensive by being first to act, capturing the pot on the flop. Second best flushes don't win, but dealing with crazy people betting deer hunter style on a draw is scary too. For the most part over the past two weeks win or lose, I've been happy and comfortable with nearly every poker choices made. Only one marginal call at NL, after I was 65% sure of his hand isn't so bad, trips beating my top two pair on the flop. Hope I don't slide into being a moron again. The advice here about not playing Ax off has been really valuable, now when I see a player pulling in the pot with that hand I feel like a snake in the weeds waiting for them to wander over to my edge of the yard with that junk.
