Where can I get a decent card shuffler?, SendMoney, 16. Sep 2003 08:17

I've been scouring the Internet looking for a decent card shuffling machine and all I ever find are the same 9 volt battery operated pieces of junk! Besides that there are a few OK looking manual hand crank shufflers, but they're not really what I want either. The 9 volt jobs and the hand crankers all cost about $10-$30. I found one website where you could be an actual casino auto shuffler but the price was $11,500?!?!

OK here's the question, does anybody know where I can get a decent plug-in card shuffling machine in the $50-$200 dollar price range that is fairly reliable and not made out of plastic? I need something to speed up my home games because me and my friends can't shuffle worth a damn, but we have a professional quality poker table and chips and a $15 plastic battery operated card shuffler just looks woefully out of place and they don't work terribly well either. Maybe we'll just have to get the hand crank shuffler unless somebody here can help me out with some information.

I can be hired to deal, just let me know what hands you want in advance and I'll tell you how much it will cost.

The quick shuffling method I've been using lately is dividing the deck into four stacks, sitting them up like two "L" shapes and spinning them with my palm. On a new deck in order the only cards still in sequence are are the bottom two or so. Then riffling and four cutting chunks several times before finally cutting them only once. I too would like a nice shuffler, but this method seems to get them mixed up good and fast. I feel confident in the random appearance of the cards, and it is cheap. But if you find a good card shuffler on the fair price let me know, I hate the one 9V one I have for the six deck black jack game.

Hey SendMoney!

I've done a little investigating and found a site that sells card shuffler's. Im not sure about the price on these but they have statistics and a virtual tour of there product and much more they sound like they really stand by their product. The one that leads from the link below is just one of four it look's like its the best one.

Use Two Decks!, Harold Pierce, Jr., 18. Sep 2003 03:38

The simplest way to speed up the game is to use two decks of
contrasting colors. Here how this is works. When the hand
finishes, the dealer gathers the cards, shuffles them, lets
the player to his right cut the deck, and then place this
shuffled and cut deck on the table to his left. Meanwhile,
the player to his left starts dealing the deck of the other
color. When the hand with the deck of the other color finishes,
this dealer picks up the shuffled and cut deck and passes it to
the player on his left. This dealer then gathers cards from his
deal and prepares the deck for the next hand.

Bridge players often use two decks of contrasting colors and a
card shuffler.Check with some bridge players. There is aways a
bridge club or two in most cities. Contact them. Did you try e-Bay?
Check your local Buy and Sell website if your city has one. Lastly,
call a retirement home. Retired people like to play bridge and hearts,
but use a card shuffler since most of them have arthritis.

The method of using two decks is described in "The Education of
a Poker Player" by Herber O. Yardley. He was a code breaker and
tells alot of good stories of his adventures in the '30's and WW II.
This is the first book on poker I read and I highly recommmend it.
The other classic poker book of all times is "Oswald Jacoby on Poker"
