| Hi Cody I read players online by analyzing their play and thinking about what level their knowledge level is on and making decisions based on how I think they think and adjusting my play accordingly! | Cody- Depending on the limit that you play, I have found that reading hands/people is not as important online as it is in a B&M game. In the lower limits (5/10 and below), you generally have to show down the best hand or a very strong hand to the board to win. Now, that is not to say that you can't pick up tendencies of certain players if you play with them enough. However, on a hand to hand basis, it is much more difficult to spot a "tell" that will allow you to pick off a bluff. What I usually do is watch 1 player for two full rounds of play to see how he/she plays. How many hands are they playing per lap? What kind of hands have they shown down? Of the the hands that they played to the end, are they calling the river? Then, you can use the online notes feature to capture some of the information on each player. Hope this helps. Steve | ||

| Watch for players that use the auto-action buttons even when they're a blind. You can often steal from them as they'll put it on check/fold when they have nothing. If you try a steal and get the auto-raise, you can probably put them on a solid pocket pair or AK, AQ. Auto-buttons can tell you alot about a players hand, which is why you should never use them. (e.g. If you bet the flop and get an auto-check, they're usually on a drawing hand, etc.) | ||

| This is true and good advice. The only auto button I ever use is the pre-flop fold one b/c then I don't give away anything and can run to the john between hands! :) | ||

| auto-checking in the BB with AA or AK can be fun and profitable depending on the table. Especially if you have auto-checked before with obvious crap hands and taken a few seconds with playable hands. | ||

| Saying that though i am sure i am not the only one here who uses the auto-bet function when on a bluff... on 16. | Sometimes you can get a feel of what someone has by how long it takes them to act. Generally, I've noticed that if someone takes a long time to check, they don't have much and are trying to make you think it's worth the thought of betting. If someone checkraises without hesitation, they've usually got the goods. There's different patterns for each player, try to watch people and see how long it takes them to bet certain hands. Just be aware, sometimes they actually are attending to something else and that is the reason they take so long. Lee | ||

| Another helpful item a number of the online rooms have is the player notes feature. On Party, if you right click on a player you get a drop down box with the feature. Then you can write down your observations of that player during the game. If you ever play them again, you can check this feature and see what you wrote the last time you played them. Has really helped me a few times. | ||
