playing .50c/$1 NL hold 'em. I had pocket 10. Before flop someone raises to $2. 2 other callers and me. Flop comes 8 10 J. I'm in first position and bet $5. middle guy folds. last guy calls. Turn comes 9. I bet $5. LP reraises $10 more. I think I might have got overly worried about him having a Queen and I folded. Any suggestions on how I should have played it?

You have to look at the odds the pot are laying you now to help you figure this out. If I am correct there is 33.00 in the pot after the last person raised and it is 5.00 to you to call==33:5 or 6.6 to 1 the pot is laying you. The odds for you making the full house or better are 36:10 or 3.6 to 1 so you definately should call here and see the river and hope like hell he doesn´t have three jacks which I think is highly unlikely. If you hit the boat I go all in on him and if you don´t it is probably a check fold. Hope that helps some.

I think you should have bet the pot on the flop. The $5 bet inbto the $8 pot gave someone close to 3-1 to call for their str8. That isn't the correct number, but since it was NL, their implied odds are so much higher if they hit.

Once the 4th str8 card comes I think you need to shut it down because any Q or 7 beats you. You probably should have check/called if it wasn't prohibitive because you have 10 outs to your full. You were getting $33-$5 or 6.5 to 1 on calling the raise, so that is plenty with 10 outs. I would have called that raise.

Brian:

I am not an expert, but I wouldn't have paid to guess. You didn't mention how this guy had been playing or any kind of read you had on him. But assuming you had no read on him, I think you did the right thing.

Just my opinion.
