| So I'm playing one of those 2,000+ player NL Hold Em freerolls at Poker Stars, cruising along with a decent stack when the following hand comes up, I am KKingdom and got knocked out this hand: PokerStars Game #118477741: Tournament #306441, Hold'em No Limit - Level V (75/150) - 2003/09/14 - 04:08:14 (EST) Table '306441 74' Seat #9 is the button Seat 1: Sexy lady (7860 in chips) Seat 2: ftwtxgirl (1500 in chips) Seat 3: bdubs3737 (6537 in chips) Seat 4: Puppy Powa (5200 in chips) Seat 5: NetTx (4916 in chips) Seat 6: jindoheart (4940 in chips) Seat 7: KKingdom (4835 in chips) Seat 8: Otte (695 in chips) Seat 9: HoneyRoy (3325 in chips) Sexy lady: posts small blind 75 ftwtxgirl: posts big blind 150 *** HOLE CARDS *** Dealt to KKingdom [Qh Qd] bdubs3737: calls 150 Puppy Powa: calls 150 NetTx: folds jindoheart: folds KKingdom: raises 1350 to 1500 Otte: folds HoneyRoy: folds Sexy lady: calls 1425 ftwtxgirl: folds bdubs3737: folds Puppy Powa: folds *** FLOP *** [9s 3d Qs] Sexy lady: checks KKingdom: bets 1800 Sexy lady: raises 4560 to 6360 and is all-in KKingdom: calls 1535 and is all-in *** TURN *** [9s 3d Qs] [7s] *** RIVER *** [9s 3d Qs 7s] [Js] *** SHOW DOWN *** Sexy lady: shows [3s 3h] (a flush, Queen high) KKingdom: shows [Qh Qd] (three of a kind, Queens) Sexy lady collected 10120 from pot *** SUMMARY *** Total pot 10120 | Rake 0 Board [9s 3d Qs 7s Js] Seat 1: Sexy lady (small blind) showed [3s 3h] and won (10120) with a flush, Queen high Seat 2: ftwtxgirl (big blind) folded before Flop Seat 3: bdubs3737 folded before Flop Seat 4: Puppy Powa folded before Flop Seat 5: NetTx folded before Flop (didn't bet) Seat 6: jindoheart folded before Flop (didn't bet) Seat 7: KKingdom showed [Qh Qd] and lost with three of a kind, Queens Seat 8: Otte folded before Flop (didn't bet) Seat 9: HoneyRoy (button) folded before Flop (didn't bet) When it got to me in late position with pocket Queens there were already two limpers, so the pot size including the blinds was about 500, I decided to raise 3 times that amount or 10 times the BB with about a third of my stack to protect my Queens and maybe get some action. Big stack just has to protect his/her SB of 75 chips calling an additional 1425 with a bitch pair of 33. The flop came Q 9 3 with two spades and after it was checked to me I made a large raise of 1800 hoping to get some more chips or force the opponent to fold with my top set, the opponent check/raises all-in with the bottom set and I of course call. The opponent needed to catch a 3 for quads or running spades with an unpaired (besides a 3) board to beat me, and guess what? He/she got running spades with an unpaired board. I put the situation into my Hold Em Showdown program and I was surprised that I was only 91.1% on the flop when all the chips went in, I thought I was a bigger favorite than that. I'd say this qualifies as a bad beat and I think I had my opponent trapped perfectly and the fugger got real lucky, unfortunately this has been the case in about my last 10 tourneys, although this is definitely the baddest beat of the bunch. Damn you Sexy lady and your reluctance to fold pocket 3s to a large raise, DAMN YOU! | ||

| Send, I have been busted out of every tourney this year on similar hands. Just grin and bear it like I have. Eventually we win those big hands, get a big stack and get to cruise to the final table. Until then, I will just keep taking my licks and playing my game (and getting better at it every day). | ||

| 1800 is not a big bet relative to the pot which is already out there. I would have pushed all-in at first opportunity on the flop, although the end result would likely be the same. | ||
