I play in a very low limit hold em game and the players are so loose and passive that i cant get a single one to drop with a raise, even from early position. They wait around and end up out drawing me a lot of the time. I know i should be able to run over them, but ive been loosing consistantly to them for months now and ive tried to adjust my strategy, lkoosen up tighten up, but i seem to never be able to beat these terrible players consistantly. we play .25-.50 structured.

You might want to risk giving a cheap card, and wait until the turn to make an aggressive raise. This way you are forcing them to make a much bigger mistake with the 4 or 5 out type draws, in exchange for allowing some legitimate hands to complete on the turn. In a game where there are constantly lots of bets in the pot and it is multiway going into the river, the turn is where you should build the pot with made hands.

Jake one of the realities of playing in extremely loose games is that NO MATTER how well you play you CAN'T avoid having substantial swings up and down. This occurs partly because your edge in each individual hand is so small (or sometimes doesn't exist at all!!!) that short term luck regarding the outcome of these hands plays a big role. You don't have to be playing incorrectly to lose in the short term playing poker.....you will have losing sessions and you need to be able to deal with this reality. That being said.....many many players do not adjust properly to loose games and make strategic errors during the play of their hands (in most cases the player is unaware of their errors). I'm unsure of how you play but in general most players who are experiencing problems winning at lower limit poker are playing FAR TOO MANY WEAK STARTING HANDS. I would recommend reviewing this area of your game and if you are unsure of yourself perhaps read a book on low limit poker. Good luck Jake!!!! GRANT PITTMAN

Hi Jake

If the game is of the texture that you describe I would play solid starting hands and bet them straightforwardly until your opponents change their image of you....You will take some beats (and swings) in this texture of game, but played right, this texture of game should be your biggest earn!

Life is Good :-)
