| I think I have a leak in my game maybe someone can comment on. Here is an example (although this is from memory so it may not be exact). This is NL .10/.25 $25 max stakes with an average pot of $5. I get dealt QQ. I raise $1 and there are 3 callers. Flops comes 10 7 2 rainbow. I make a decent size raise of $2.50 trying to win it right there. I get 1 caller and 2 folds. The pot is now about $10 ( I cant remember if the blinds are in or not). Turn card is a 4. I bet $2 he calls. At this point Im not sure what he has. I think probably A 10. River is a 9. Now there is a str8 possibilty on the board. I dont think he has J8 or 86 but I chicken out and check. He checks and I win when he shows K 10. I shouldve gotten another couple bucks out of him. Any suggestions on how to make a confident river bet after Ive been called all the way? | ||

| Your turn bet of $2 into a $10 pot seems pretty weak. A $4 or $5 dollar or even a pot-sized bet would be better here. On the river a bet of about a third of the pot is a nice way of saying "I have you beat, I'd like you to pay a little more." A third of the pot on the end is also nice that you don't lose that much if you get a significant re-raise when you figure to fold, you might get a little extra if you have the best of it, and it might even occasionally encourage an opponent to fold when he has a marginal hand that could beat you, like when he has bottom pair and your AKs missed the flush draw and your overcards completely. Remember the river is about value, your queens as an overpair to the board definitely have some value. | ||

| I think your preflop raise was good. There was about $5 in the pot on the flop, and the board looks good for your hand. With your hand I would bet about $6-7.50 and be happy to win it right there, but if I get called they are paying pretty heavy to see a turn card. Same thing goes for the turn. So if you want to plug your leak, bet your good hands harder. | ||
