| Hey everyone, I want to play an Aruba Super this Sunday, one problem, I can't get a fast/reliable internet connection installed until next week at the earliest, which is too late for me to get to Aruba. Anyway, I had this idea that maybe I could play at an internet cafe, but I realized that I need software to run Ultimate Bet, and cafe's aren't going to let me install software onto their systems for security reasons. Is there any way for me to get around this? It is possible to run UB from a disc I could bring (I'm guessing not)? Thanks in advance. | ||

| You could in theory probably run the software from a disk (CD that is, NOTHING fits on a floppy anymore). However, the poker software I have seen, PP, PS, UB and others, all have clients that connect to an oddball server port and require special settings on any firewall software (you DO run a firewall, right?) to allow them thru. THAT is what would most likely stop you from using it. On a side issue, once you get you DSL/Cable connection, DO NOT USE IT WITHOUT A FIREWALL! I prefer Norton, but BlackICE is very good also. Windows XP and Windows 2000 have built-in firewall protection as well, but it is hard to configure and the utilities do more than just packet filtering. | ||

| I imagine that all the internet cafes probably do have a firewall. Maybe I can find a friend who will let me come over, download UB and use their DSL for a few hours. | ||

| The software interfaces with the Windows registry in several ways, impacting upgrades, user preferences, and caches. It doesn't look like it would run from a CD, but I haven't actually tried. User network privledge settings may restrict write operations to the workstation's registry at such Internet cafe's. Don't count on operating a poker client from anything but your PC. | ||
