I Have been playing holdem low limit online for about 6 mos.
Learned to play in the Colorado casinos.
Any way back to the online winning steak.
Bought in for 150.00 turned into 9000.00 + over 6 mos.cashing out on a weekly basis but try to keep 500-1000 in my account.

Always able to squeeze a cash-out every week except for one over 6 months. Average Hourly rate aprx 10.00

But now for the last 2 months I haven`t been able to cash out and had to make a small deposit for the first time.

Every time I build my account up to 500 in the .05 / 1 limit then move up to 3/6 I`m getting beat and have to drop back down to lower limit.

Trying to break out of this slump or is this a normal thing?
Please give me your thoughts.

Hi,

Yes, loosing streaks will happen. Maybe though, the $3-6 limits are too tough for you right now? I'm not sure, but the difference between a $3-6 game and a .50-1.00 game is a big difference. Not only in the caliber of play.......but also, the swings it will (can) have on your bankroll. You've managed to build up a $150 bankroll to over $9000?.......that's fantastic, wow! But keep in mind, you have been cashing out some of that money on a weekly basis, so when you do that, your account is going to be lower now, and because you can't expect to always have winning sessions........so if you jump into a $3-6 game with only leaving $500 to a $1000 in your account, it's very easy to lose that in a short period of time.

So what I'm trying to point out here is.......if you cash out regularly, then "know" that that money that is in your pocket now is indeed money that you have made, AND if you're only going to leave a certain amount in your account, then maybe you'll want to start from the beginning again.....play at the really low limits........and work your bankroll back up again, because you are putting way too much pressure on yourself by thinking that you're always going to be able to have a winning week of poker when in all reality, that's just not how it's going to be, AND you are taking that risk of losing the $500, to $1000 every time you play in a $3-6 game for multiple sessions in a row.

Keep good records of your results and remember....you can't have your cake and eat it too!......if you're constantly cashing out your money, then it IS possible now that you "may" have to actually deposit money, especially when you go from a very low limit to a much higher limit. It sounds to me though that you have *made* money over the past six months so......"Way to go"!!! Feel good about that and try not to dwell on a loss or two if you're proving to be a consistent winner.

I smell a little mean reversion here. You had such a long winning streak thatr no matter how good your play, you were bound to have a stretch of losing sessions in a row. Don't fret...you have built up a tremendous bankroll from a little investment. And, losing streaks happen to everyone (read Roy Cooke's article in CP earlier this year about his February).

Keep playing the same way and don't worry too much about results. Also, maybe go back down to alimit where you were consistently winning to get that confidence back.

Having 500 or 1000 bucks in your account isn't sufficient to play in a 3-6 game. Stick to the 300 BB bankroll (1800) to play in that game and you will feel a lot better mentally. Even though you're up almost 9 grand the balance of your online account wreaks havoc on your attitude and your game.

I hit a recent slump as well after a couple months of winning almost every session (hopefully just pulled out of it with a big win last night).

My advice - make sure the slump isn't effecting your game. I would sit down and if I lost a couple hands early would start getting that "oh no, I'm going to lose again" feeling and would have to really focus to keep my play solid. If need be, take a break from your game and then come back with a clear head.
