| Yo Poker People. I have just started playing sit'n'go's at Party. I did this to take a break from the grind of low limit ring games. I have never played sit'n'go s before and thought I would just venture 10$ for the experience and to widen the scope of my game and see if there was an opportunity to make some $$$$$$$$. My first 5 games have had the following results: 1:2nd 2:3rd 3:3rd 4:2nd 5:1st. Now I know my limits and I aint no poker fly guy. My best skill is folding. Im ok at that, that and not really wanting to play my cards unless they are quite strong. In these sitngos this seems to stand me in good stead as I see everyone else charging in with all sorts of hands that would give me the fear if I was limping with them from the BB. Anyway, I am going to have to take some heavy whipping before I venture back to ring games because this seems a lot easier. I know too well how poker has swings, but I didnt feel on a rush, I got in the money on one occasion with nothing stronger than 2 Pair. This is certainly looking like the way forward. At what limits do these sitngo get hard which for me means more than half the table understands the fundamental concepts of poker. Game selection is Key and given the play I have witnessed I dont think I could find softer games than this. | ||

| Here's my 2cents.... I started at Party with SNGs. $5+1 (worst payoffs since it's 20% fee, instead of 10%) - but anyway.... My first three tourneys, I won 1st or 2nd in all. Wow, I must be a prodigy! ;-) I've since played a mix of low limit ring, SNGs and multi tables. With the exception of one multi-table, I think I make the most at SNG's. Lately I play the $20 at UB, and do well. Limit or NL hold em. I think they get "better" as the price goes up. By this I mean, more sane. You should do well at those low limits playing solid poker, but so many people draw out over and over, you can lose a major stack and not get back in time. Party Poker blinds go up fast in relation to starting chips. So if you get cracked by 58os 3 bet before the flop, it will rock your world, but you won't have the time to get it back like you would in cash games. As a newbie, my favorite SnG's are the 2 table NL holdem at PokerStars, (1500 chips low starting blinds) and the UB $20s. My Party streak has ended, and it seems to get crazier by the day. Oh and again, I am no expert - but if you are best at folding, I hear that's a GOOD thing. I stopped chasing and started winning. | ||

| Yeah they are soft. If you can handle the blinds going up so fast, you'll do fine. I usually play the 30+3 ones and they aren't much better. If you're consistently doing well at the 10+1, I'd suggest you give it a shot. In the last one I just played, blinds were still 15/30 and I had AA. 2 callers, then someone raised to 200, another caller, and I move in for 750 being more than happy to win the pot that was out there. Both the raiser and the caller play with 77 and 99 and I nearly fall out of my seat. It's pretty easy to make the money when you have over 2k chips before level 3 and these guys have no problems giving it to you when you've got the goods, it seems. Lee | ||

| Lee, what would you say "doing well" is? For the last 33 sNgs at Party at the $5 and $10 games, I have averaged 4 or 5 dollars per game which is about my win rate at the .50/1. ring games. I have been thinking about giving the $20 games a try. Do you think I am doing well enough yet at about a 43% win rate to move up one notch? Thanks very much in advance. Don Quixote on 11. | I'd say that a 43% of the buy in return isn't too bad at all. Party doesn't offer $20 games, they go from $10 straight to $30. Even if your return rate in the $30 is half of what it is in the lower games, you're still getting more from playing the $30's. I'm no expert on EV for sng's, but I'd say give it a try or two and see how you feel, if you are comfortable with doing so. Lee | ||
