| Hey y'all. I had to let you know I had my first big tourney win. Well, the first that mattered. My first win, I took 1st out of 508 in a super satellite at Party for a spot in the boat tourney. Top 33 got a spot in the big one, so after we hit 33, it didn't matter. But today, I finally placed in a multi-table at UB. $10+1 buy-in, 136 players. NL hold em - I prefer limit usually, but may change my mind soon. I spent some time as chip leader, stayed in top 5 most of the time. then mid-tourney I dropped half a stack on a couple hands I overplayed. But I caught good cards against people with slightly less good cards a lot right atfer. The deck was kind to me. I went up and down, made final table. Came back from final table short stack to 3 way, then finally heads up. I went all in with this hand...... transcript to follow. I know this was a beginner mistake. I didn't pay attention to the suits - got too excited for my 2 pair. But, 2nd place still paid fine for a $11 investment, and I was glad to be there. Any analysis on this play would be appreciated. Now that I see the betting pattern, I should have thought trip 8s, flush, anything - he bet out - obvious to me now. | First off, great results in both events...well done. I think you played the last hand fine until the river. Potentially, you could/should have made a bigger bet on both the flop and turn making the odds worse for him to call. You need to protect two pair with two of a suit on the board. | ||
