Ok, I'm a newbie that has payed my initial "poker tax" and (with help from advice from here, thank you, and reading a couple of book) got it all back and then some.
I have had some good returns on my NLHE SnG play and last night I thought I would try a multi-table tourney on Party ($20+2 NLHE).

In the 3 hand (basically everyone has $1000 and blinds are 10/15) I get pocket KK in BB, 2 MP limps and SB limps and with the blinds being so low I decide to slowplay the KK (first mistake) and just check.

Flop comes 558 rainbow. Not the best of flops, but not really too bad (no A). SB checks, I bet 100 to test the waters, MPs both folds and SB calls. At this time I read the SB on either a middle-high pocket pair or a A8. He could call with a open ended str8 but I didn't think he would do that this early in the tournament

Turn is a 10, if he held a open ended str8, it would not have helped him. He checks, I bet another 100, he calls.

River is a third 5 and he goes all in...... Danger!!!! (But I was to focused on my boat, BIG Mistake). No str8 or flush on the board but he could have pocket 8s, 10s or As to have me beaten or the forth 5. I figured (again making mistakes) that he would have come over the top of me with either of those hands earlier so I had him on a high pair now (either the other KK or QQ or JJ) or even a smaller pair like 9s or something.
I call (the BIGGEST mistake, NEVER call an all-in without the nuts or very close to) and he flips over A5s for the quads...... He had me beaten all the way and I didn't see it coming. I got trapped big time!

I guess I'm too used to the maniacs in the SnG who go all-in with nothing early on.......

This left me with $15 in the SB ($10), went all in with my ATs and got busted by 2 pair. I got 587 out of 599, I will try hard to beat that at the next tourney I'm entering ;-)

-Magnus

PS. Made the entrance fee and some extra money playing the SnGs while watching the tourney being played out.....
