Be aware, but don't be afraid. I am not naive enough to think that it doesn't go on, but at the lower limits it isn't worth the risk so i wouldn't spend too much time fretting.

Hi,

Although anything is possible.......I don't think you'll need to concern yourself with there being collusion in the games that you'll be playing in.

Have a good time when you go to AC, and don't forget to ask the floorperson for a 'Taj card' as soon as you enter the poker room. You'll fill out a very short form {name, address, etc.}....they'll issue you a card {that looks like a credit card}, and right when you sit down in the game, tell the dealer that you need to be 'signed in'. He'll call a floorperson over, and they'll take your card and register it in their computer system. Now depending on what limits you play; you will earn {up to $2 an hour in points} that will be able to go towards food, and/or a hotel room. Be sure that you also remember to 'sign out' when you are all through playing at the end of the day, as your points *will* become null and void if you fail to do so. Take advantage of the perks because they don't 'give many' to poker players, and this can also help to cut down on some of your expenses while your there. Good luck. Be safe. Play good!

You should be aware, but not paranoid. Apply common sense and good judgment any time you are dealing with money; i.e. stock market, insurance, gambiling etc.. You can enjoy yourself while at the same time watching out for your interests.

OK, NEWBIE, I'LL TELL YOU, WHAT I TEACH MY POKER STUDENTS.

THE FEAR OF PARTNERSHIP COLLUSION, IS LARGELY AN ANACRANISM. MODERM GAMES, WITH A BET AND THREE RAISES,
ARE NOT ANYWHERE NEAR AS JUICY AN OPPORTUNITY FOR
PARTNER CHEATS, AS WERE THE LOWBALL GAMES OF THE PAST.

IN THOSE GAMES, THERE WAS NO LIMIT TO THE NUMBER OF
RAISES THAT WERE ALLOWED. PLUS, THE ACTION WAS SO
GREAT, THAT IT WAS NORMAL FOR PEOPLE TO GO EIGHT, TEN
RAISES. ALSO, UNLIKE HOLD EM, LOWBALL OFFERS THE CHANCE FOR THE PARTNERS TO HAVE A PERFECT HAND, THAT
CANNOT BE BEATEN.
I HAVE SEEN HOLD EM PARTNERS, PUT IN MAXIMUM BETS, ONLY
TO LOSE THE POT ! ! ! ! !

MIKE CARO TEACHES US, THAT TWO PLAYERS, USING PROPER
SKILL, CAN BEAT A TEAM OF FOUR PARTNERS, ALTHOUGH IT
WOULD TAKE QUITE A BIT OF TIME.

I AGREE. ALL YOU HAVE TO DO, TO BEAT ANY POTENTIAL PARTNERS, IS BE AWARE THAT THEY ARE THERE, BUT DON'T
LET ON THAT YOU KNOW, OR EVEN THAT YOU SUSPECT.

THEN, BE PATIENT, AND CHECK THE NUTS TO THEM, AND HAVE
THEM PUT IN MAX MONEY, IF YOUR POT!!

NOW, ON THE INTERNET, PARTNERS CAN GAIN A FAIRLY LARGE
ADVANTAGE, WITHOUT EVER RAISING, SIMPLY BY SHARING
INFORMATION OVER THE TELEPHONE, AS TO WHAT THEY HAVE,
WHAT THEY THREW AWAY, ETC.

IF THEY ARE DESCREET, AND DON'T PUT IN RAISES WITH
NOTHING, THERE IS NOTHING THAT CAN BE DONE ABOUT
THESE CHEATS.

BUT, THE ACTION ON THE INTERNET, MORE THAN MAKES UP
FOR THE SMALL ADVANTAGE THE "PHONE CHEATS" GET, BY
SHARING INFORMATION.

SO, DON'T WORRY (TOO MUCH) ENJOY. THE "WATCHDOG"
SOFTWARE PROGRAMS, THAT EXIST OF THE TOP FIVE SITES
(PARTY PARIDISE, PLANET, ULTIMATE BET, AND POKER STARS)
WILL PROTECT YOU FROM THE "RAISING" PARTNERSHIPS.

"PHONE BUDDIES" ARE A FLY IN THE OINMENT, THE ADVANTAGE
IS NOT VERY BIG.

I have, and explained to the floor manager what was happening. The stupid manager went and stood behind the dealer for about 10 minutes and watched the game. Obviously saw nothing by not being discreet, and took no action I am aware of. I took my game next door to the Mohegan Sun at that point, so I don't know what transpired.

IN ANY LARGE CASINO, I WOULD NOT WORRY ABOUT COLLUSION,
IT JUST ABOUT DOES NOT EXIST ANYMORE, EXCEPT MAYBE
AT THE GIGANTOR LIMITS.

ONLINE, THEY HAVE SOFTWARE PROGRAMS TO DETECT IT,

AND THE PHONE BUDDIES SHARING INFORMATION, DON'T
HAVE THAT MUCH OF AN ADVANTAGE.

THIS IS LARGELY AN ISSUE OF THE PAST, AND AT SMALLER
GAMES, IS NOT AN ISSUE.

IF YOU PLAY GAMES LIKE 300-600, THEN IT MIGHT BECOME
AN ISSUE, BUT AS I SAID, THE LARGE, PROFESSIONAL CASINOS
ARE VERY AWARE OF THIS, AND TAKE STEPS TO PROTECT
THEIR PLAYERS FROM THESE PARTNER CHEATS.

I don't agree with that ADAM. Collusion does exist in the casinos, even in the larger ones. The higher the limit, the more of a chance there will be collusion.

You said that: "Casinos are aware of collusion in the really high limits, and to protect their players from this, they take the proper steps to make sure there is no collusion". Really? What "steps" (exactly) do they take? I guarantee you ADAM, if you chose to respond with an answer; I would disagree with you, once again.

But please do so.......I'm waiting to hear you say that "they put cameras over the games and watch everything *really* closely".

You also stated that collusion is a thing of the past?.......If you think collusion is a thing of the past, then you better think again, because as long as they have poker, there will *always* be enough people who would be willing to go to the extremes by colluding. If you are desparate enough, slimy enough, AND greedy enough.......then you couldn't put it pass them to go to desparate measures either.
