| Ive been playing Holdem online for several months. Mostly Playing Limit Tables max of 2/4. I play a bunch of NL sitNgos and have done well. I placed 5th in a 280 person $10 buy in NL tourney and won $150. , (that was nice). My initial deposit online was $200, my bankroll is now over $500 and I withdrew $150 after placing 5th. Ive never played in a live Tourney or Ring game. Im in Jersey and thinking about hittin some live games in AC. I dont think Im nervous about my play, (im solid, tight, aggressive, I calculate odds very quickly, play a real strict Odds / Math game online). But I know you need more than that to play live. Should I let the table know its my first time? Im sure the good players will figure that out right away. What kinda etiquitte should i be aware of? | ||

| First off, don't let anyone know it is your first time. No reason to give them any reasons to pick on you or watch you in any way. As far as etiquette goes, I would watch the flow of a few tables before you sit down so that you understand how things work. The biggest (2) pieces of advice I would give is pay attention when the cards are dealt so that you always act in turn. Secondly, protect your cards at all times. Do this with your hands before the pre-flop action gets to you and then put a chip on your cards if youdecide tostay in the hand. It will only take the dealer mucking your AA one time for you to realize the economic benefit of this. Finally, relax and have fun. Stick to your tight aggressive game plan and be patient. Hands come about 2/3 as fast in live play, so there will be plenty of stretches where you don't get a whole lot of good hands to play. That's OK. Fold, fold, fold and you will be fine. Good luck. | Do any of you know the limits at casinos in AC?.. i dont think ill be too comfortable sitting at a 5/10 table....Im gonna go with about $1000. I'll probably be most comfortable at 2/4 or 3/6... My plan is if Im down $500 at poker, im gonna walk away and go to the Craps table for 15 minutes of action before I go home. | ||

| I am pretty sure that AC spreads lower than 5-10 at the Taj and the Trop. Not sure about the new place. You should call ahead and see though. Not sure I like your plan...the craps part of it at least. :) Also, go in with a great attitude like "WHEN I am up $500 at poker, I will go get even at the craps table for 15 minutes before I go home." | ||

| Craps is my true love.....Ive done very well at Craps.....I stay away from BlackJack, dont have the patience to sit with an idiot that makes a wrong move and cost me a big hand. .Ill take your advise and leave if Im up $500 at poker and see what I can do with that at craps, too. But if im down I still like to end the night with a quick craps session. If you hit a nice table and arent scared of pressing bets, you can make a lot $$$. | ||

| I play at the Taj and the Borgata and both have 2/4 and 3/6 HE. The wait is long on the weekends, especially if you go while they're running a tournament (was almost 2 hours for 2/4). The wait is much shorter for 5/10. I'd advize playing 3/6 over 2/4 as you get more of a true game rather than 8 player seeing the flop and staying in till the river with any draw. $1000 is plenty to play 3/6 and even 5/10. Also, always announce what you're going to do and then do it. That way there is no confusion over whether you were raising or calling. | ||

| I have never ever played craps in all my life but i believe it to be similar to roulette in that the house always has an edge, if you ever want a top tip about playing poker in a casino mine would be DONT PLAY THE GAMES THAT FAVOUR THE HOUSE !!!!!! I now never ever play roulette or blakcjack ( thought i am aware that it can be beaten i have no idea how to count cards ) or any game that the house is favourite, with money i play with or win at poker. Too many times ( luckily only once to me ) have i seen good poker players win at the poker tables and then blow all that hard earned cash on some stupid house favoured game ! If you are serious about your poker i would say that one of the biggest things you will do to improve your earn rate at poker is to not give it all back to the house. I dont know but i am guessing that all the resident pro's here will never play these games i believe it to be a ' classic ' trap of the poker player. on 10. | So that they will not peg you as a newbie too fast. Watch to get your BB and SB up on time w/o dealer asking. Online it is automatic. Online you can play in your PJ's but live they may be watching your expression. e.g. poker face. Live there are more distractions. I played Stud for years and my first 3 holdem games were a little rough before I got use to it. But, I had only used a computer game prior to that. If you can not do tricks with your chips then leave them alone. I would recommend that you stack your chips the same way all the time. Never fold until there is a bet, just check. Fold in turn. Players sometimes cup their cards and you may not see them and fold. I would buyin a 100 rack for a 3-6 game. Make 5 neat stacks and good luck which you will not need. Craps is fun but a looser long term. I did win $400 last time ,,,, but. If you are good at odds, unlike online you have to count the pot yourself to get the odds. I have some trouble with this. (lets see, 6 saw the flop, no raise - that is $18-rake....oh the SB folded so that is $15-4 or $11). You get my point. Also, when not in the hand watch the players to see what they like to play. Live you may be able to pick up on some tells. Like the player is drunk and in every hand. | ||

| I just wanted to make a comment about many newer type players. I think by far the biggest problem they have is equating the amount theyve won (or lost) with how "good"they are. as far as im concerned most players seem to think there way better than they actually are. especially new ones. if you think your better than u are, you will eventually have problems. always work on your game, you cant be great in months, just like anything complex, it takes years to be good. staying humble will make you money... | ||

| I agree - Today I won but if I don't keep up on my game that can easily change. I was mostly just lucky rather than good. Cards came my way. | ||
