Yesterday I had AK four times in a few hours once three times in five hands. All four times I raised flop came with nothing good folded on flop twice and limped to river twice folded when board looked ugly.
Bad run of luck? Statistically how good a hand is AK? How do you guys play from EP/MP/LP
Thanks for the help
Don

Bad run statistically. I have heard it say that if you hold QQ, that there is a roughly 50% chance that you WON'T see either an A or K on the flop. So, take a third of those outs away when you hold AK and the chances of hitting one on the flop in any given hand is around 33%.

I raise Ak from all positions depending on the # of players in...less than 3 raise, 3 or more just call unless there is a chance that you can buy the button and get rid of the blinds too.

I like your play of the hand when you missed though. In higher limit games and NL where you don't generally have as many big multi-way pots, you can steal on the flop a lot. In LL games, thart simply won't work so I use Lou Krieger's advice: "Fit or Fold".

Good luck.

Steve
