This is a $25 dollar max buy-in NL table at UB.

Pre-flop:

MagicMartyy calls. judge smails folds. Chaffs
folds. mandryd folds. mesz folds. bigsexy1963
folds. Torch30 calls. kevve calls. Eihli raises
to $2.25. MagicMartyy calls. Torch30 re-raises to
$4.25. kevve folds. Eihli calls. MagicMartyy
calls.

Flop (board: 3s Jh 6d):

Eihli checks. MagicMartyy checks. Torch30 goes
all-in for $4.70. Eihli calls. MagicMartyy folds.

Turn (board: 3s Jh 6d Tc):

(no action in this round)

River (board: 3s Jh 6d Tc Jc):

(no action in this round)

Showdown:

Torch30 shows As Qs.
Torch30 has As Qs Jh Tc Jc: a pair of jacks.
Eihli shows Kh Ac.
Eihli has Kh Ac Jh Tc Jc: a pair of jacks, ace/king kickers.

Torch30 just sat down so I didn't know anything about him. His bet on the flop seemed a little off. Two people just checked to him, normally if he had anything he would want to keep us in so he'd check or bet small.
Given this hand again I think I'd make a dollar bet on the flop and go from there...

I don't know if I would have gone all-in on the flop, especially since you were given a free card.
... and especially since you only had $4.70, meaning that the caller would get 3:1 to call your all-in

I think he is the all in caller, not the all in bettor, Easy.

I would have reraised to the amount he had in front of him before the flop to get rid of the caller and get heads up with the raiser. If you're going to play this all in on most all flops, it's better to get it heads up than 3 ways. If for some reason the flat caller comes over top of you, then you have a tough decision, but it's doubtful. Other than that, the call on the flop is justified. You're getting 3-1 and there's a decent chance your AK is good here to begin with.

.... that I actually paid attention (moron)

Apply my previous comments to the person who actually held the AQ.

As to YOUR play: what would you think the $1.00 flop bet would have accomplished here? Is it probable AQ would have gone all-in anyway, making your decision tougher?

I've always found AK hard to play NL in situations like this, so I can't say you played it wrong by calling. I'm not sure if you should have reraised preflop, based on your analysis of his? play, but if you don't reraise then, do you almost have to call on the flop, unless high cards come (as in, 2 or 3)?
Anyone with more NL experience care to comment?
