| This a really good tip one I found out the hard way. Two weekends ago I played a long session on an empty stomach. I was into the game and did feel hungry. I had the worst session of my brief career for several reasons I am sure. One no doubt was lack of nurishment and the resulting fatigue. This weekend I ate a lunch before playing (the wait list was 1 hr) and then half way through (7hrs) I took a break left the table and ate dinner even though again I was not hungry. I played the best poker of my life and made much better decisions the entire way through. I have no doubt that my eating and taking a break contributed significantly. | ||

| Don't play poker on a full stomach either.....It put all the blood in your stomach and not your brain! For the same conceptual reason it is not correct to fantasize about the cocktail waitresses :-). Life is Good :-) Roy Cooke on 8. | Even better...don't keep playing while you are eating. I have taken advantage of many a player who isn't paying attention to the game because they were more interested in their Turkey sandwich than the flop. | ||

I'll add one more comment to Steve's point. FEAR the player who's eating and then stops to play a hand...a very reliable tell, IMHO. In my experience, players view dinner at the table as a semi time-out. On a marginal call, they'll fold and get back to dinner. But when he puts down the food to get back in the game...he's on a premium hand! | ||
