Keep in mind, this was NOT online..., MozMan, 7. Sep 2003 01:36

OK, after the nightmare of the last two nights, I don't ever want to hear anybody say this stuff only happens online, therefor it must be rigged. This was NOT online:

Last night (Friday) I played at the B&M and watched a two-hour run where solid-tight play did me no good as two fish at the table chased impossible runner-runners to take down pot after pot. Both left with five racks of chips, and I left on tilt.

Tonight, I bolted from the casino after these four hands (four in a ROW, by the way):

First, kill pot, I get KK and raise the kill. Get cracked by a fish who drew two-pair, jacks and dueces (he called two bets cold with J2o before the flop in SB), on a completely uncoordinated board, when a jack came on the river.

Second, I get KK again. Raise again. A different fish calls my raise with (you guessed it!) J2o from MP; catches a duece on the river to crack my kings.

Third, I have AQs one before the button, raise, draw queens full of kings (two kings, two queens on the board), only to get shown pocket kings for the quads by the UTG player, who never raised me, and checked into me every betting round.

Fourth, I get ATs on the button, draw two-pair (tens and kings, with a T, two Ks and two blanks on the board) again to be shown pocket Ks for the quads by ANOTHER fish who never raised and checked into me every betting round.

I swear, the next time I hear some fool tell me this kinda stuff only happens on UB, I'm gonna stuff a chip-rack in his left ear.

Say goodnight Gracie.

"All these bad beats only happen online" I am wearing earmuffs, so I am safe from the "chiprack in the ear" ... lol.

Seriously though Mozman, it is clear your opponents they were on a run of winning cards and you were on a run of "superb" second best hands. I hope you used the time to try and manage your tilt, since lucky opportunities to be beaten this way rarely occur and you should use them to play coldbloodedly to minimize your loss. Another viewpoint.

I had exactly the same thing happen to me for a while during a game and my blood was competing with the air conditioner in the casino as I minimized my losses during the period, folded hands I would otherwise pump up, and spent the time trying to get a read on the luck weasels that were winning every pot in sight with hands so bad that you could fertilize your garden with them.

Adapt, tighten up, observe, the tide will turn. You know it will.

MOZMAN, MAYBE YOU SHOULD STOP BETTING AND RAISING OTHER PLAYERS HANDS FOR THEM. ALSO, SEEMS TO ME YOUR HANDS WERE NOT SO GREAAT BASED ON THE BOARD. LJH

LJH-

I hear you. I did do a lot of betting for other players, but consider this: in each case, I was convinced I had the best hand. In the first two, I did have the best hand until the river; in the second two, I simply had no idea that KK would be out there twice.

I'm not so sure I agree that my hands were not worth playing; I had KK, KK, AQ and AT...

In any case, while I was venting a little about the beats, the point of my message was not so much the bad beat story as it was to show that this kind of thing does not only happen online. It can, and does, happen in the B&M as well.

I've been feeling the pain too Moz. Ran into three different straight-flushes this past week, each time when I held pocket kings. One was a particularly brutal set that filled me up dead on the turn in a monster pot. The only good thing is knowing that this money will go back in play another day.

All they needed was a king in there hand to bust your queens full of kings! No affence but It sounds like a bad play rather than a bad beat but I could be wrong!
