| I'm interested in how some of you are playing these hands...pre flop...... from early, mid, and late positons. Thanks | ||

| One of those "it depends" type of question. If the game is tight they are pretty useless in EP, ... Particularly AJ which I have horrible stats on. Horrible enough that I still think it is an anomaly which will settle down in time. I play them in MP. I raise with them in LP. I know this is pretty general an answer INSINK, but that's what I do. Naturally, when I say I raise them in LP, I mean that sometimes I raise them, since it depends on the players in the game and the relative stack positions. In a loose game I will limp them and see the flop. Hope this answers your question ... :) Good luck & skill in your games! flintsword | ||

| While AKs tends to be an overrated hand, AJs&ATs tend to be underrated. Being suited is not enough to turn a bad starting hand into a good starting hand, but it is enough to turn a marginally bad starting hand into a marginally good starting hand. And that's what these hands are--marginal winners, similar to 99 and 88. With marginally good hands, you should plan to play them, throwing them away only when you have a good excuse not to play them. In the case of AJs/ATs, a good excuse is a better player to your left who successfully isolates you and knows how to trap you. In really tight games, being suited doesn't add enough to make this a playble hand up front, but it makes a good stealing hand. Otherwise, in most game conditions, this hand is good for two bets. In a loose game in late position, you can often play this for three bets or more. | ||
