| after starting to play poker a couple months ago and losing $400 in the first week, I was never able to fully recover from that. But, after posting here and playing on pokerschool for about 2 months, I have transformed a $50 deposit into partypoker into $803 right now! THANKS EVERYONE! I thought that I could ever get to this point, but it is possible! For those of you that want to know how I did it...DO NOT PLAY LOW LIMIT GAMES FOREVER. Move up in limits if you can afford to. One question to the pros on here. I am scared that I will lose my bankroll so is it ok to cash out like 5-600? I am a ppppooooorrrr college student that needs to pay for his books $500! What do you guys think? But at the same time, I love having this bankroll and playing at the higher limits. :) :) :) Mike | ||

| Hey, congratulations Mike! Just shows what a little discipline and a little knowledge will do. Keep an eye out for a drop in earnings once your table opponents have enough time to figure out the parameters of your play, and play those limits against you. Good luck & congrats! flintsword | ||

| I'm no pro, but I am poor and I say cash out what you don't want to lose. Unless you're seriously considering moving up limits. Any tournament winnings I've earned, I keep half in my bankroll (to eventually move up) and the other have goes toward my credit cards! It's helped relieve a lot of stress in my financial life. Good luck Sunday... beigs on 6. | i couldnt resist. I cashed out the full amount today. My school comes first, and I have to pay for my books :( But I am happy with the money I cashed out because I would have felt worse if I lost most or all of it! Mike | ||

| Hey Mike, First.....good for you, nice score. And secondly, whether you're a pro or not, cashing out money to take care of the things that are important to you is all about A) being good to yourself, and B) being responsible. And you should do what makes "you" feel good, and what you think is correct for your situation and peace of mind......nothing less than that either. That's what the money is there for; to spend it when you need it, and to use it for enjoyment......that's life! 4P- | ||

| Mike, Could you give a brief history of the limits you've played as you turned your game around? Also, did you do it all at the ring games? Thanks, Kyle | ||

| I am a killer tournament player so I stuck to that when I deposited my $50. I played a couple $33 tourneys and won 1,2,3 place. I HATE playing low limit ring games, so I did not play any $1/$2 or $2/4. When I had a couple hundred in my account, I started to play $3/$6 for a little bit. I worked that up to $500, and decided to play at even higher limits where strategy would work. I played $5/$10 for a little bit, and moved up to $15/$30. I have to say for being a "virgin" to the high limit games, it was so nerve-wracking but at the same it was sooo much fun. I sat on the edge of my seat in every hand I was in. I worked my way up to $800, and decided to cash out because I did have some crazy credit card bills due to school. But I would have to say that playing low limit ring games, pot limit, and no limit games is where I lost most of my money when I first started to play. I have developed a strategy for myself, and its what works for me. You just have to play where you are successful, and go from there. If any of this sounds confusing, its because I am very hungover from last night and my head is not clear yet : ) Let me know if you have any other questions | ||
