| In my local poker club, this argument exists: One party insists that in all casinos, Omaha is always played high-low with an 8 low qualifier, but another individual maintains that Omaha can be played high only, or as high-low, depending on the rules of the casino where it is played. I notice that some ads in Card Player Magazine (for example, Binion's) lists Omaha high-low split in some tournaments, and Pot Limit Omaha in other tournaments -- this would indicate to me that Omaha is played both ways in Binion's at least (the same goes for an ad I saw for Belagio). Can you clarify thie dilemma? Thank you. Sly Andy. | ||

| There is no dilemma. Omaha simply means there are 4 cards. When it's time to differentiate, "Omaha" is a 'high only' game unless otherwise stated. Omaha 8 or Omaha H/L is a spin off of Omaha, which some argue, is a spin off of Hold 'Em. As far as what game is played where, PUUULLLLEEEEEZE. Casinos will hold any game that draws attention and a rake. | ||

| Two different games; both using four cards in your hand w/ a flop; both games can be played at the casinos; and if the game is Omaha hi-lo, it will state that when you go to sign up for it, and the same applies for an Omaha high game. Both games can be played as a pot limit game, as well, and they also can be played with a limit structure. There are no rules to my knowledge whether you will be allowed to play just Omaha hi-lo or just Omaha high when you go to a casino. If there's enough interest in either one or both of those games, they will open up a game. When referring to tournament listings and such, if the event to be spread is Omaha hi-lo, then they will print it as such, with either: "Omaha high-low', or 'Omaha 8 or better". If it just lists the word "Omaha", then the event will be Omaha high. 4P- | ||
