| Some weeks ago, there was discussion about dividing this forum into multiple subject areas. Although I was against it at the time, I’ve changed my mind recently. Due in part to natural growth—boosted in part by Roy’s recent CP article—there’s just no way to keep up with the rapid pace of new posts. Many interesting messages now retreat from the front page so fast, they attract no “action” or debate. That’s most unfortunate, because it’s the lively but respectful debates that make this forum so interesting. That said, I’d suggest dividing the forum into the following categories (not necessarily in this order): 1. Playing Strategy. More general than hand analysis, this is where you’d find the “what should I do with Axs” kinds of questions. When should I raise pre-flop? Which book is best? Etc. 2. Hand Analysis. This would be the “did I play this hand right” section (personally, my favorite part of the board), reserved for analysis of actual or hypothetical hands. 3. Starting Out. This is where beginners could post the most basic questions, everything from casino etiquette to betting structure to definitions of common terms. 4. About Poker. Where to play (online & B&M), major tournament results, grousing about how commentary for the WSOP is biased against amateurs. 5. UPF Community. Tourney information, real-world gatherings, trash-talking, apologizing for trash-talking. 6. From the Pros. Where Roy, Grant, Mike, Barry, Mark, et. al. could post tips and advice, and we could debate/discuss with them. (Of course, they’d post in other parts of the forum, also). Given the recent pace of posts, I think this kind of division is warranted and would prove most helpful. A suggestion for Roy and Mike to do with as you see fit. | ||

| I am brand new to this site and am very impressed with all the posts. The more experienced players seem to really want to help the beginners, which is so cool because it will help grow the game much quicker. I am in favor of dividing the forum into topics... seeing how many posts there are... and how many different topics. Again, great site! Keep it growing. | ||

| What, 2+2 light? :) If anyone would do this, don't lose the home page which shows new posts, regardless of location, in decending order. | ||

| I am still of the same thought as last time this issue was brought up leave it all as it is but let people have the option of selecting which " folder " they want the thread to be entered into ( instead of just poker and not quite poker you expand that idea to all the sub foders mentiones ) I would be wary of mending stuff if it aint broken ! | I don't mind dividing, but I think the categories suggested have too much crossover between them. Working from the suggestions, what about, very simply: 1. General (what is now the Poker forum) 2. Hand analysis and strategy (for the nuts and bolts discussions) 3. UPF Community (which could replace Not Quite Poker) 4. Starting Out, for the newbies Seems like doing a forum for the experts to post to wouldn't be needed, their posts will always fit one of the above topics. I think having a seperate forum for the newbie questions is a good idea, the board is intimidating to someone just happening upon it. Eli on 5.
